Geez, the Dodgers won 100 games in a reset year where 6 of their 9 hitters were ordinary and the rotation had a lot of issues.
I still think their lineup beyond Betts, Freeman, and Ohtani is ordinary, but then again they have Betts, Freeman, and Ohtani. And while I like Pepiot and have been lukewarm on Glasnow he should be really good in LA but now they have Yamamoto, Glasnow, and Kershaw along with Miller and some other youngsters and if Kershaw retires come 2025 they can plug in Ohtani.
That is one stacked team. Eventually they'll win another championship or two, the law of averages and all.

I would have given him that contract easily ... and he still would have gone to L.A. I honestly hope no one is really surprised by his choice.

Watch the Dodgers eventually get Sasaki too, lol. They'll have Yamamoto, Ohtani, and Roki Sasaki in the rotation, lol.

Look everyone, this sucks. But no matter what happens we have a stocked farm system and still have a ton of money to spend. Don't look back, look forward and let's relish in our being the underdogs.

The Dodgers, eh? How boring. Just glad it's not the Yankees.
Now then, just gotta drive up the price on Montgomery so the Yankees overpay for him and then swoop in on Imanaga.

The longer this went, the more I worried that he's the next Tim Lincecum. Maybe a couple great years before his wings melt and he succumbs to being too small to stay a MLB power pitcher for more than a few seasons. Time will tell... at least he's over in the NL while we find out...

From the Athletic "Boston Red Sox Projected Opening Day rotation: RHP Brayan Bello, LHP Chris Sale, RHP Nick Pivetta, RHP Kutter Crawford, RHP Tanner Houck Given their glaring need for a front-line starting pitcher and their considerable scouting presence in the Japanese market, there was a time when the Red Sox might have been the overwhelming favorites to sign Yamamoto. He checked almost every box except for one: He did not come cheap. The Red Sox are not the free spenders they used to be, and now the question is whether they can adequately address their rotation without falling back on their recent tendency to settle for second- and third-tier solutions. If the Red Sox don’t sign one of the top remaining starters, like Montgomery or Snell, the prevailing narrative in Boston will be that ownership is no longer committed to fielding the best team possible." theathletic.com/5149484/2023/12/21/yoshinobu-yamamoto-sign-losers/

Spend on who at this point? Next year’s free agency class is atrocious, it’s really going to have to be the trade market. It’s like Soto, Buehler, Burnes, maybe Cole and a bunch of meh. We should give out some extensions to our young guys and figure out if there are any trade partners

I mean there isn't even a point to play the games next year. The Dodgers are just ridiculous.
But man it must be nice to be a Dodger fan with owners who would literally do anything to win.

But no - just reporters deferring their own responsibility for what "the narrative" will be.

Looking forward to rooting against the dodgers for the next several years. They're easily the new Yankees.

Also just thinking out loud but if you have a stud 25-26 year old pitcher that is under control for 3+ years, and you just watched the Dodgers spend $375 million on Yamamoto, idk how you don't entertain the idea of trading them. You are sitting on a gold mine.

375M$ is alot. Not sure if Sox were close or not, but have to turn the page and do something, something substantial. Still a few FA pitchers that can really help.

You are sitting on a gold mine. Good call. DiPoto was smart to wait out the trade market on his young arms. Almost seems more likely that he'll move one now if the trade market follows suit.
