Is there a reason ESPN can't fix its scoreboard? I feel like I'm watching a NESN broadcast.

FWIW Good AB by Middlebrooks even though it resulted in the groundout. Just missed a jack, too.

Outstanding play by Carp.

Ok. Lets see if Victorino can score without a hit.

This could get ugly - esp after going up 6-0 to start the game.

This could get ugly - esp after going up 6-0 to start the game. Gutless performance by Lackey tonight. He's staked to a 6-0 lead before he takes the mound. And, he's luck to still be ahead 6-4 at the end of four. I know he's had a good year so far. Just talking about tonight. Oh, and I'm not getting Rick Sutcliffe's math. The Rays have 9 hits and 1bb. Yet, should have 14 runs?? What am I missing?

Really starting to believe they found a gem in Carp, and yes I know SSS

Lackey can't keep the ball down or locate in the inner half to save his life.

Just as I say that, he has an 8 pitch 5th inning. Awesome.

Lackey - and the Sox needed that quick 8-pitch inning. Now they could use a couple or 3 more runs.

Didn't realize I was "evaluating" Lackey's season by saying he couldn't keep the ball down or locate in the inner half tonight. He clearly doesn't have it. Also, Drew and Middlebrooks have really stung the ball tonight.

Nowhere did I say you were evaluating his whole season, but you were definitely evaluating him. e·val·u·ate 1. To ascertain or fix the value or worth of. 2. To examine and judge carefully; appraise. EDIT: Sorry, don't mean to get into a dumb, petty argument. I'm just being grumpy. Carry on.

Not real good judgement there JL. Breslow bails your ass out.

That dust-up is all on Lackey. Dude, you were lucky to get out with a 6-4 lead and you drill somebody because they hit a HR off of you? And, a long foul fly-ball. Lackey's always been hard to root for. He has to drill Sean Rodriguez when he gets a chance and leave the rest of the Rays out of it.

Man the 3-4-5-6 tonight sure has an impressive triple slash. Downright 2004-esque.

So what did they discuss during that players-only meeting? Because whatever it was, it wore off after the first inning.

Thank god for Shane Victorino. Even with a sore hammy he covers a lot of ground. This would be an awful game to lose, hope they hang on.

Gameday says Tazawa is throwing a "forkball." The last pitcher I know of who threw that pitch was Elroy Face, unless of course it is just another name for a splitter, which technically it isn't.

Jon Denney would have blocked that ball.
