Completely OT, but why was Breslow only used to face 1 batter if the plan was to use Miller to start the next inning?

Tazawa really should have been the one to make that catch. That is about the weakest infield popup i've ever seen.

Drew 0-4. Hottest hitter on the team cooling on the pine.
Just sayin.

WMB and Drew a combined 1-8 with 4 K's. Meanwhile, on the bench with a 13 game hitting streak, Jose Iglesias sits.

Completely OT, but why was Breslow only used to face 1 batter if the plan was to use Miller to start the next inning? Because Farrell can't wait to use Mortensen for the 9th. For a former pitching coach his pen management has been really questionable at times this year.

What does Lovullo tell Farrell when he makes such disastrous bullpen decisions? Surely he can't be on board with some of this crap, or at least he doesn't strike me as the type that would. But Farrell knows best... Can't use your closer in this case, because, well, that's the rule.

Hope Papi hits a mammoth go ahead bomb and stares at it for like 15 seconds before deciding to run the bases.

Good lord the amount of bitching done about Farrell's handling of the bullpen (which has been OUTSTANDING this year, Hanrahan excluded) is reaching epic proportions.
Not only are they tied for 5th best record in blown saves (a useless stat, yes, but I don't know how else to illustrate that the bullpen hasn't blown many leads) and a third of those are from Hanrahan. All the way down the line, with the exception of an injured Hanrahan and a fringy at best mop up man (Mortenson), there has been success. The team is successful. The pitching has been great. The bullpen has been successful, even though they lost TWO closers for a period of time.
Are all of his decisions the ones that make sense to us sitting here? No. But god damn give the guy his due. Matchups aren't all about handedness.
Sorry for the rant, I'm just sooooo bored with reading the same stupid posts about the bullpen.

So you thought using Breslow for one batter followed by immediately using another lefty was a good move? Just checking so I'm not assuming.

So when was the last appearance Bailey had were he pitched a clean inning? Cause I've seen this act alot. Made me nervous enough when Foulke used to do it. Don't need to see it reincarnated.

Ok. How does a team with a 12 man bull pen have no one to use in the 10th inning. If need be, use Morales and they can call up a triple A starter for wednesday.
EDIT:But this will probably be a moot point in ten seconds.

How did it work out? Do I think going to Breslow for the third time in three days was a great idea? No. But jesus christ I've never met someone who complains about success more than you do, guidas. You know what? He was used in the garbage time.

EDIT:But this will probably be a moot point in ten seconds. Have to send WMB or Iglesias down to do that. Then, we lose them for 10 days. Bring Holt up after that start. I mentioned in the thread yesterday that we'd bring WMB up on Thursday not today. Bailey is going to blow this. So, it won't matter.
