Maybe it's just because it's the end of a long season, but people on this board (not just this thread) certainly seem to have short fuzes lately.

Sox haven't give up more than 3 runs in a game since 8/18.
That should pretty well jinx us for tonight.

"MY memory is that tons of people--GMs, beat writers, broadcasters, feature writers, Gammons--had a rudimentary knowledge of crude park effects, and everybody understood that it was easier to hit and harder to pitch in Fenway and Wrigley."
Yup. I remember at least as far back as the 60's Yankee fans harassing me saying that Red Sox batters were overrated because of the small park, to which I responded that Yankee pitchers were overrated because of the big park.
Maybe the "experts" knew less than we did, but I doubt it.

You didn't hear about his position change? (JK. Thanks) Why isn't he # 1 if he could play 1B for 4 days and pitch the 5th? What a threat in the WS!!!

Great game! And even with Tim "People are really here to see me fuck up calls" Timmons behind the plate and reversing a balk call that he initially indicated screwing LAA Out of a runner at 3rd in the 9th, the Angels manage to hang two on Rodney and go into the bottom of the 9th up 6-5 after being down 5-1. I'm only watching this on Gameday, but De La Rosa is scaring me. One out now but a runner on first.

Ryan Dumpster may have single handedly managed to fire up ARod and to bring some cohesion to the Yankees. It was disgustingly stupid.

Almanzar and Navarro are correct. You said 3 and had already said Almanzar. Oh, what, you want me to tell you?? :-) The third was Bryce Cox.

Felix was a good guess. His high ranking was 3 and his low was 57. The fact that he was never ranked exactly at 60 was a coincidence though. He just happened to skip over it in both directions.
He was signed some time in '04 and wasn't ranked until August of '05 at # 39. A year later he was up to # 11, and the August after that back down to 57 then off the charts. He was ranked again at 52 in April of '08 and peaked at # 3 in June of '11.
It would have been a better question if I'd asked who has been ranked both in the 1-10 and 51-60 ranges. It's interesting to look at which players over the years have come from nowhere to become highly regarded.

What about them? Lavarnway graduated a long time ago and Britton is on there. Chris, he's responding to the post script to my original post.

DetailsSummary- Matt Barnes & Trey Ball swapped places at 8 & 9.
- Christian Vazquez hit a new high mark at # 14, up 2 from last week.
- Rafael Devers is ranked for the first time at # 25.
- Wendell Rijo moved up from 32 to 26.
- Luis Diaz has a new high ranking at 28. Last week he was 37 and the week before he was at 51.
- Keury De La Cruz and Henry Ramos are both down 5 spots at 31 & 32.
- Brock Holt fell 11 positions and is now at # 33.
- Jose De La Torre also fell 11 landing at # 45.
- Kyle Stroup, last ranked at 53 on 7/26, returned to the top 60 at # 53.
- Justin Haley is at 54 after being unranked since he was 57th on 4/26.
- Jose Almonte dropped 14 spots to # 59.
PS: Xander is the first player ever to have been ranked on this site at some point in his career at both #1 and #60.
The closest anybody else has come is to have been ranked at 60 and also as high as 4. There have been three of them. Any guesses? Hint: one should be pretty obvious.

I'll say it again, the learning he can do in the minors is on defense at third base, where he can use the work before coming up. Completely agree. His plate discipline is unreal for any prospect, let alone a 20 year old offensive machine. His power is really coming around now as well. With the way the pro team is put together this season and to a lesser extent in the future, the big thing he needs are more reps at 3rd base to be able to contribute in September (hopefully). Wouldn't the Sox want to bring him up in August, at least for the proverbial cup of coffee, so he's available in October if needed?

My expectations for Stank are probably too high, which I will admit is solely based on his name. In 6 years from now I just want to be able to say "He's got that Stanky fastball" and "Today he's throwing that Stanky stuff" and...well you get the idea. There's a serious downside for him on that basis though.

This probably isn't the right place for this but nevertheless ... I hadn't been to Fenway in a long time before the FAF game yesterday. (I had front row Monster seats for $30. You can't beat that!!)
My big surprise when I peered over the wall was the condition of the outfield. As a Sox fan I was not proud. Right field looked fine. Center field had large square marks (depressions it appeared) where apparently the stage (I'm guessing) for a concert had been erected. Left field though was the worst. I'm not sure what happened but it looked for all the world like a hundred duffers stopped by and took pitching wedge practice.

Almost forgot to do this. DetailsSummary- Rubby De La Rosa moved up from 5 to 4 swapping positions with Allen Webster.
- Brandon Workman, now # 11, and Bryce Brentz (now 12) also switched spots.
- Ditto for Brian Johnson and Alex Wilson, now 17 and 18.
- ... and Henry Ramos and Sean Coyle, 26 & 27.
- Wendell Rijo is now ranked 36th. Last week he was 43rd and the week before he was not in the top 60.
- David Chester returned to the top 60 at # 54. That's a new high ranking for him. The last time he was ranked was at # 60 on 6/14.
- Luis Dias is also back after being unranked for over a year. He's now 55th and he was last ranked # 53 on 4/20/12.
- Mike Meyers, at 59, also returned to the rankings. He was # 60 on 4/12/13.
