I'd agree with that but tell me, if the home runs were to Goins instead of Bautista which wouldn't have affected the calculation, would that be more troublesome to you or the same ? Eh, not really. Even fringy major league hitters will punish bad pitches, and no doubt Porcello made some bad pitches today. But so does every pitcher in every start, and Porcello ended up also making a bunch of good pitches. A lot of people fail to understand this, that in a way, even if its a terrible pitch and the guy hits it 500 ft, its bad luck in a way, since a lot of times hitters wont connect with that same pitch. They think bad luck is only bloopers...

Finally in the 4th game Mookie takes a walk. he needs to figure out how to take what is given to him this year... I think he just got a little too agressive after a good first game, he'll be fine.

I dont know how you can possibly argue that this was a bad start from Porcello

Koji looked terrible, his role is to come in the 8th inning, you cant mess with that!

Am I seeing things? Is Farrell being smart and bringing Koji earlier so Tazawa doesnt face the heart of the order??? He's a changed man!!

I mean I like Young for Shaw, but why not Swihart for Hanigan? To be fair Swihart is better against righties. I dont mind Hanigan there, with the bases loaded a walk would be very good, and that's his strength.

That's awesome man, I'm from Recife but I live in João Pessoa now! Are you here too? Same country was already unlikely, same state even more, maybe same city as well? damn haha You won't believe this but I actually am from João Pessoa too! It really is a small world. I've been in USA for about 15 years now but most of my family lives there. Can't believe there are baseball fans (much less Red Sox fans) in JP too. Good to meet you brother hahaha I might be the only one though haha Football has actually grown quite a bit, I know quite a few people that watch it (most are posers though) and even play it, but baseball is really not a thing yet... In Recife and Natal that are a couple teams actually, and it's starting to grow but nothing here yet.

Am I the only one scared we might see Chris Young everyday? I can already hear Farrell's interviews: "He's a veteran, he is a guy that gives you professional ABs" Why are we assuming that Young would logically be anything less than the 3rd outfielder? He's obviously playing whenever we face left handed pitchers. And he might represent the best blend of offense and defense versus RHP as well - the alternatives are Castillo and his career 49 wRC+ versus RHP, Shaw who can hit righties but isn't actually an outfielder, and Holt. I would like to see a Holt/Young platoon in LF personally but I can see the argument for Holt being needed elsewhere. As others have noted, Castillo is an elite OF defensively, and there's reason to believe we still might see improvement with the bat for obvious reasons, even if you expect neither will hit, might as well play the best defender. With Young there's no unknown, he is just terrible against RHP, and there's less than 1% of a chance of that changing. So even if Castillo fails might as well give ABs to Holt until Benintendi is ready, no point in playing Chris Young at all. Btw, in my post you quoted, I didn't even mention Castillo, I understand he has he flaws. I just said you just dont play Young against RHP and that's common sense.

Pretty cool to see Mike Yastrzemski playing in front of the monster.
