All I’m seeing is that he can’t ever be a candidate for BSOHL. Dude is/was jacked. "I felt that maybe I added a little bit too much bulk the past couple of off-seasons, and that's where some of the injury problems came from. This time I focused more on flexibility, yoga and overall being a little less stiff and more pliable. Kind of like the Tom Brady routine, and the guy was never injured. Honestly, I don't think it ever felt so good. It's like I'm in the best shape of my life."
Bank on it.
“I’ve made a lot of adaptions to my training program. I’m working with my new trainers this year,” O’Neill said (12:15 in player above). “It involves a lot more intensive warmups, getting my body ready the right way, more shoulder mobility, more hip mobility. I’m on a core program that I do religiously that helps out my back a lot.”
“Implementing full range of motion activity has been really good for me. Getting these deep range of motions, really deep into my hip when I’m doing different lower-body exercises and really focusing on opening up my shoulders before I get onto the bench press and dumbbell press and stuff like that,” he said. “My body’s feeling really good. It’s felt as good as it ever has.

Yeah, I don't mean to let the Cubs off the hook completely. But at least I get where they'd be coming from, in a kind of 'it's a cut-throat business' sense. ie. 'We like Ross, but if we can get Counsell let's do it'. Didnt they do this once before when they hired Joe Maddon?

No, the Sox arent a slam dunk to make the playoffs with Ohtani the way the Dodgers would be The Angels won 73 games with Ohtani. The Sox won 78 games without Ohtani. Ohtani presence maybe gives them an additional 5 wins. If I were Ihtanu, I'd want to know that the Sox are bringing in 2 front line starters. If they do that could vault them to 90 win status and Ohtani would have a legit reason to think the Sox are a real playoff possibility, and the Sox do have some good position prospects on the way in Anthony. Mayer, and Teel. . I would think playing with Masa and Yamamoto would make it very comfortable for him in Boston. Can always trade for a starter. As soon as he’s healthy. 2025. There’s your Big 3. Ohtani, Yamamoto and Bello.
According to RedSox Payrolls there is only $114M committed for 2025. (assuming Sales option isn't picked up) The first level of the CBT in 2025 is $241M.
It's not just about this year.

Seems to me they could spend big both years.
Get Otani, Yamamoto, and a 1 year deal for a #3/4 this year. Your 2025 Rotation could be Otani, Yamamoto, Bello, Crawford and your choice of a #5.

I vote they fire Kennedy as well. And then replace him with Theo (w/ a partnership stake). I mean if ownership is serious about winning - their stated goal, you need someone with a track record. Because winning is also Ohtani's stated goal. And what better way to convince him than someone with rings (and some $).
Then go Ng as the Bloom replacement and Romero as the gm. Or even Romero to replace Bloom.

Wasnt the thought behind the original Bloom hire - to recreate something similar to what Friedman had in LA? Well for the next hire maybe look to LA (or Atlanta)? Not sure are the potential candidates though.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Mookie trade? It would take a lot to trade for him.

Every year, the MFY “win” the trade deadline by making the flashiest trades by getting the best pieces while giving up a bunch of their overrated prospects, radio sports shows phone lines in New England get submerged by angry callers, Guidas get frustrated by the lack of Red Sox FO audacity, this very forum melts down and turns into ANGRYDOME…but in the end, they choke and get eliminated by the Astros/Rays/Sox… In other words, they want to upgrade half their team? Good luck.

Are we only talking about players here? Or is there a role above CBO that could be filled?

For tomorrow, since whitlock is on a pitch count, have him play the field for a few innings so he can close the game. At least in theory it would be cool.

I think DP is jealous of Sale. Looking to compensate because he can't on the field.
