Brad Stevens mentioned that Kanter's shot from outside looked good when watching him at the press conference. Danny also said that Kanter and Kemba were plan A in the off-season. I believe all that if Danny had a good idea that Kyrie was gone to start the off-season.

It would really be nice if some NL team will overpay a little bit for Bauer as the Sox try to get back in this thing. Cleveland's trade deadline will be must watch from that perspective as Sox fans. It would be a disaster if the Yankees ended up with Bauer though.

Thank goodness for this offense. Porcello doesn't deserve it.

Finally, doing what you're supposed to do to the Orioles. Stomp on their throats.

Among things I was clearly wrong about "washing the Mets stank off will make Matt Harvey good again" is near the top of the 2019 list. Just got cut by the Angels. Another guy who's career was ruined by TOS surgery.

Even Xander agrees, that was the worst loss of the year. The Orioles are a joke right now and you cleaned them out last year. I hope the Sox just go on a 14 game winning streak and erase everything that's been done this year, but unlikely. Hope they turn it around real quickly because losses like last night are getting old.
I'm not even one to use putrid or embarrassing a lot over one game, but last night was one of the few times I could agree with it and say it.

Prob Webers last appearance as a sox? at least till September I guess He'll probably be DFA'd before then for a 40 man roster spot. Just to add, Eovaldi needs to be taken off the 60 day IL and needs a 40 man roster spot tomorrow. They'll probably put Steve Pearce on the 60 day IL until September and option Weber down tomorrow.

The team has been playing at a 98-win pace since 6-13. If they keep that up they will definitely be in the playoffs and they are as dangerous as anyone. This is easily the best offense in MLB. Today has definitely sucked though... So far. They are about to be 4 games back of Cleveland, while being 5 games back in the loss column. They are about to be 3 games back of Oakland, while being 3 games in the loss column. Ohh and 14 out of their next 16 games is against New York and Tampa Bay. Ya, this is no sure bet to win anything like you're painting it to be. IN FACT, things are looking rather ominous at the moment.

David Price was the only pitcher without a egregious homerun problem on this pitching staff, and now he does have a problem with the homeruns. It was fun while it lasted.

That should be a inside the park error. Oooof. That's what happens when you try to get cute with the defense, Cora.

Also, acquiring Abreu could protect the Sox against the possibility of loosing JD Martinez to his opt out clause after the season. If traded, Abreu in theory, could appreciate being on a winning ball club that has numerous veteran players (some of which also happen to be Latino). His age (approximately the same as JD) and defensive acumen could dappen his cost in free agency. Abreu is a free agent at the end of the season. I'd rather have Nick Castellanos, if they're replacing JDM with someone else.

That makes 3 pages worth of Kyrie BS. How about everyone drops it and moves on. Move it to the throwdown area if you must. At this point who cares!! Kyrie is gone and the C's still have a very good team. How about we talk about Kanter and his 4 ORB a game or something relevant to the 2019-2020 C's. I mean, hopefully that's Robert Williams doing that and not Kanter. Kanter will be a backup, if Williams steps up like we all hope he does. Kanter is a funny dude. He took pictures of Celtics fans taping his name over Kyrie's number 11 jersey (I guess that's the jersey number he's going to wear). He also asked Kemba Walker in his press conference if he was going to pass the basketball. There's not much to talk about. The off-season is pretty much over. The Celtics are finding a 15th man on the roster at this point, and they might not make a decision on that until the end of their training camp in October.

Hate to clue you UMASS, the young guys thought they were HOF's last year after their "spectacular" playoff run. So the worst we can say about Kyrie is-
A) He was miserable and had a change of heart about staying in Boston after his experience here. He broke a promise, which happens all the time in sports. See Jon Lester example. B) He made mistakes about talking about his teammates to the media, when his teammates were doing the same. See Marcus Morris. C) He didn't play the game of basketball they YOU wanted him to D) He thought the earth was flat.
And this makes him a d-bag? I mean, I guess? Sure. Whatever. Mind you, he didn't quit on the Celtics. He kept in contact with Danny Ainge up until he left. He just failed on a lot of fronts and made a lot of mistakes, but he's the worst human being on the planet. Blame him for cancer existing too.
However, does this mean he should be blamed for 99 percent of the problems last year which you keep circling back to?
Nope. This is the same team next year, unless Gordon Hayward bounces back and/or Tatum or Brown finds a new level. You're in for a wake up call if that doesn't happen. You won't have your favorite binky to blame if shit hits the fan either.
Point Guards are basically a dime a dozen in basketball. There's like 10-15 star point guards in the NBA. You can replace one with the other and be a good team. Unless your name is Irving Magic Johnson, a point guard isn't going to carry you to the Finals. That's what I realized last year, basically.
The Nets "constructed" what Danny Ainge was trying to do for years here. Recruit Kyrie and Durant to play for the Celtics. He acquired one, he came that close to the other. He took his shot with Kyrie and played it out. I don't blame him for it. The only thing you can really blame him for is not getting a true superstar next to Kyrie, to elevate the Celtics to a NBA Finals appearance. He attempted it with Hayward, but the Celtics are cursed and he broke his leg.
It's like Danny says "I don't regret a deal I made, I just move onto the next move."
It's funny, if Durant choses the Celtics in free agency 3 years ago, this is probably a completely different story. The Celtics probably would have been in multiple Finals appearances already and we all would be glad that Kyrie and Durant just signed long-term here this off-season. This might have been a dynasty if Durant came here. Instead, it played out this way without a top 5 player in the Celtics roster.
Anyways, I'm moving on. Maybe they'll be a day where you're not blaming Kyrie for everything, but I'm not going to let it bother me anymore.

The Sox have zero room. Basically minimum level contracts from here on out if they want to stay under. Maybe 2 million until the third threshold. The Sox are done if they want to stay under the third threshold. Stinks because they need another arm. Eovaldi is probably not enough, especially if you want him starting by the end of September. Add- There's only one arm in baseball who's making the minimum and can help this team this year- Edwin Diaz is the best trade target the Sox might have right now. He's the only option if the want to stay under the third threshold. Agreed. I think going over the threshold is a terrible idea, too. In that sense, and given his buy-low status, I think Diaz makes a ton of sense, but I also think it’s just not gonna happen unless the Mets (Wilson in particular) go all-Mets and panic on Diaz as a mistake, hoping to recoup some losses. Doubtful the Sox can put together a package, and I’d be concerned at any significant outlay because of the riskiness of RPs, but if a reasonable deal came together I think Diaz is by far the best candidate out there. *Maybe* Giles with some creative cash management, but that’s a big if too. Yeah I hope the Mets are that stupid, but probably not. The one hope is that they are the Mets. Diaz is as good of a bet as you can take on a reliever considering the service time, age, stuff, peripherals, and closing experience. Like he'd immediately would become the team's best arm in the bullpen if added today.
