Not sure what all the complaining was about here. The hook was textbook.

Excitement and anxiety starting to bubble over. Just picked up dinner and got my first drink ready. Let's hope it's a good night.

A couple points:
- Minor leaguers do have full-time jobs. It's called being a professional athlete. - Player salaries are not an expense for Minor League teams. The MLB teams affiliated with them pay that.

The real reason for the Yellow & Blue unis. Dear Lord, is that what video games are really like these days? No wonder I'm so nervous around teenagers.
These days..? This game is 25 years old.

My comment about Yorke and the 5 recent teenage comps he found:
Yorke is the only guy who did this making their professional debut, and the only one of the four guys who were promoted who hit better at the higher level. Those two are of course related, because if you take out his first pro month (plus 6/1), which requires a huge set of adjustments, the numbers at Salem vs. Greenville do make sense:
.377 / .472 / .614 .333 / .406 / .571
The resulting .363 / .454 / .601 line makes him the most impressive teen hitter of the last decade after Trout and Vlad, who are of course generational talents.
This is all good, but continually stressing that Yorke was making his "professional debut" is a little disingenuous. He's the only guy who basically had 18-20(?) "professional" months of instructs and workouts and losing weight and two Spring trainings and hitting against AAA pitchers at the alt site before making his official "regular season professional debut." That skews everything. Covid skews everything. I'm of course still impressed. Confused on this math here. 18-20 months? 2 Spring trainings? Where are those numbers coming from?

Yes and no. Ort was added as a covid replacement and made his debut last night in SEA. They're getting a look at him but won't have to DFA him.

Not overconfident. Just optimistic. They are in the thick of the playoff hunt with about 2 weeks to go. That's about all we can ask for. Only 1 team in the league is significantly better than them by record. The chicken little routine around here gets so tiring. Would you like the purple heart for your optimism? When the Sox play in a way that inspires optimism I'll be optimistic. At the end of July I was pretty damn optimistic they were going to the playoffs, but not so much anymore. Still that doesn't mean they cannot do it. I just no longer expect it at this point like I had in July. What they did through July still happened. It doesn't magically disappear just because they have gone through some struggles since. Teams go through up and downs throughout the season. Not long ago, everyone was crying about how the yankees will never lose a game again and now they've lost 8 of their last 10.

Glad to see we arent overreacting this morning Glad you're so overconfident about things. Some of us get concerned when they don't play well and hand away games in a tight race. Not overconfident. Just optimistic. They are in the thick of the playoff hunt with about 2 weeks to go. That's about all we can ask for. Only 1 team in the league is significantly better than them by record. The chicken little routine around here gets so tiring.

Schwarber is a fit no matter how you slice it. Kiki can play 2b. For OF he's better than Duran. He's also a better player than Duggy. For 1b he's better than Dlabec. For DH - he and JDM they could split OF and frankly at 35- JDM could use some more rest. With 4 caliber .900 OPS guys-- you take one out for rest (or injury)- your lineup still remains extremely formidable. Not saying Schwarber is the answer - CB doing a terrific job- if he goes in a different direction got to believe he is going to be right. But with that said- Schwarber is a define fit as he has since day 1. Their best defensive alignment is Verdugo, Kiké and Renfroe. Schwarber has 1 inning career-wise at 1B. It's a low bar with Dalbec, but let's see Schwarber actually play there. Duran hasn't done anything to make me automatically pencil him into next year's plans. Just an atrocious CFer who isn't currently hitting. This isn't to say I'm not for Schwarber's return. In fact, I'm for it. I would sell high on Renfroe and see how Schwarber handles 1B between the rest of this season and Spring Training. He's played multiple games there already with the Sox.
