Nice win, I have to say I didn't think we needed pitching but I love what Peavy did tonight. He neutralized there ace. Contributions from the non-stars. I had to hear the game on radio. I do love the radio guys but I wish I could of saw this one. Now we need San Fran to pull one out. Uehara with less than his usual command tonight, apparently. But still nothing going against him. In the last 3 years his line has been 104 IP, 59 H, 24R, 23ER, 14HRA, 13BB, 136K. This is unworldly. The most amazing thing to me has been that he's given up only 24R with 14 HRA, and I presume a few of those must have occurred with 1+ of his own baserunners aboard. So in other words, other than instantaneous offense through HR, he has allowed virtually no offense in the past 3 seasons. He simply can't be scored on through sustained offense. And this year for the first time a team is really leaning on him. T'will be interesting to see how he holds up down the stretch.

Is Tazawa diminshed? I know he's struggled lately. But pitchers struggle sometimes You're right. I think this comes from posters thinking out loud, stream of consciousness stuff. At least I hope that's what it is. No one should be using one-case extrapolation, projecting players game to game. He struck out Goldschmidt, the guy I was most worried about and got the team out of a jam, with help from Gomes. There was some heat, also, with the fastball reaching 95.

His strikeout to walk ratio has been down post all star game, but that is a very tiny sample size. He is still the guy I trust most after Uehara.

Uehara really only had his low 80s splitter last night and was still able to close it out.

Steven Wright starting Tuesday.
Looks like I won't be watching the game Tuesday.

Really hoping the Sox offense starts fast today. Ellsbury and Victorino need to set the table. Hopefully Pedroia and or Ortiz can clean it up.
It would be nice if Napoli got hot again.

Speier also tweeted that Nava will go on paternity leave tomorrow which would allow Red Sox to bring up Workman before the 10 day waiting period is over.

Honest question, have Jake Peavy and Jeremy Renner ever been seen together in the same room? Or is it a LL Cool J/Ricky Romero kind of situation where we'll never know?

Man I've been making that comparison for years, it's so so so accurate. And on the topic of Steven Wright, it's a great day for Red Sox nation ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Why do I get the feeling the Red Sox season with end on a Napoli strikeout?
edit: Also, it's time for Cody Ross to take a pitch off the back.

The odd thing is Napoli is having a hard time hitting fast balls. Not just 98 mph heaters but the 88-92 MPH variety too. Misses 1 of every 3 he swings at.

Plus, it is kind of funny that you can predict the outcome of his ABs anytime he gets behind in a count.

Welp, Victorino just hurt himself again. I appreciate the effort plays he makes, but you'd think he'd have developed a greater sense of self-preservation at this point in his career.

Victorino has batted from the right side twice today against a right handed pitcher.
