Anyone else see some Billy Wagner in Drake Britton? Not the MPH, but the motion and the tude.

6 runs in 4.2.... needs to be a bit better from him That's still a hell of a lot better than three runs in one inning.

I still like Britton as a starter candiate. The stuff is top shelf. But I lov the way he has just waded into the pen role and embraced the moment.
And Ellsbury - can't we keep him? PPPPLLLEEEEASE!!!

Wright's value, IMO, will come in someone who pitches multiple innings out of the pen. I have no problem with him filing the long man role for the rest of the season.

wcp3 and Guidas post some stuff against players and managers. Like it or not, I don't remember either giving much grief to fellow posters. I get that, and I'm done with the subject for now. But maybe that is exactly what needed to be said. Just like the players on the field deserved to be called out for crappy play - crappy posts deserved to be called out for what they are too.

Some ugly baseball in this game tonight. Passed balls, running into outs, now a balk...

His numbers in AAA fell off drastically the second and, especially, third times through the lineup. It's obviously a pretty small sample size, but he seems to have found a pretty nice role for himself in the pen.

yes, due to like 4 passed balls ...Which is gonna happen when you can't even remotely locate your knuckler. The catcher could have caught some of those pitches. Neither Workman, nor Wright was good, but this game has not been exactly a showcase on great pitching.

This would be a nice game to rest Breslow, Uehara, and Tazawa. I would like to see De La Rosa pitch the 8th and 9th.

Are people really defending a starter who lasted on inning? Is that what's happening right now? Is this real? Am I dreaming? Did I have a stroke?

Would be nice but it looks like our rotation is pretty much set for the next year and a half. He'll have settled into the reliever role by then. Ellsbury is gone. He'll probably end up on a team like the Mets or Cubs. We have a perfect replacement for Jacoby at a fraction of the price. What we really need is a power bat in LF or 1B.

given the situation, late in game, big lead, Astros are swinging for it, while Britton should be focused on eating innings, so I discount this. Why are we looking so hard for a power bat in LF/1B when there is one in CF?

If Ellsbury plays a big role in a WS, do they re sign him?

If Ellsbury plays a big role in a WS, do they re sign him? Nope. Ellsbury is a Boras client. He is going to cash in.
