Some good news - Mariano Rivera just blew a save against the Tigers, giving up homers to Miggy and Vmart. The Yankees aren't making the playoffs anyways while the Tigers have moved past the Red Sox for best record in the AL and home field advantage in the playoffs. Why is this good news? Its still pretty enjoyable to watch Mo blow a save. I'd be surprised it the Tigers don't win home field at this point. Their rotation is a lot better than ours.

Their rotation is a lot better than anybody's. They're sitting at 17.9 fWAR from their starters this season, Texas is second at 12.6.

I need some one to give me some more data points on how Napoli is not as truly awful as he seems because I am starting to see him as the Rays best starter. Don't know how Maddon gets him in the Sox line-up every game but he seems to be doing all he can to keep Tampa in the race.

Although, speaking of people who've got their minds made up about Mike Napoli, it'd be nice if John Farrell would recognize that he's not actually one of his best hitters.

Why was there no pinch hitter for Lavarnway there? Just because he had two singles on the day?

Why was there no pinch hitter for Lavarnway there? Just because he had two singles on the day? Yeah well apparently that makes all the difference for a player that Farrell has apparently had no interest in using up until now.

Why was there no pinch hitter for Lavarnway there? Just because he had two singles on the day? Do most managers ph for a catcher? I always thought they were rarely ph for, given we have no backup if salty gets hurt

Do most managers ph for a catcher? I always thought they were rarely oh for, given we have no backup if salty gets hurt There's a little known rule that if you pinch hit for your catcher, and then your second catcher gets injured, you forfeit every game for the rest of the year.

So basically, Mike Carp is getting paid half a million dollars for his Red Sox season tickets. Good deal.

I always thought they were rarely ph for, given we have no backup if salty gets hurt It's the 9th inning, and we have quality left handed options off the bench. It's not the end of the world if Napoli has to go behind the plate for an inning. In the rare event he got injured in doing so, it's not like it would really jeopardize our future that much.

3-4 in this road trip so far. This series was lost on Friday, when Peavy came out for the 6th inning in a ge that he had nothing.

The Peavy game came back to hurt them maybe they would of got the split at least. I can't help but to get pissed about Buch . I really hope this guy is hurt enough to warrant all this time off. He is suppose to be our ace or at least our top guy here. We can't even explain his stupid injury. Just his daughter caused it.

Holland is filth so I dont think it would have mattered.... and KC is a good team, and reading posts here it makes it seem like we lost a series to MIA...... They (KC) have not lost a series since thre AS vacation, and are one of the hottest teams in the MLB currently

The Royals are now 19 and 5 since the all star break, playing great baseball with the lowest ERA in the league since that time ( approximately ). We ran into a hot team, in an away park, where they are filling the stands for once even. It's going to be ok.

Really nice effort by the Red Sox this weekend. Especially when considering they had a golden opportunity to break the AL East race open.

They (KC) have not lost a series since thre AS vacation, and are one of the hottest teams in the MLB currently KC certainly looked very impressive, and people around here do have a tendency to overreact to losses to non-elite teams. We're still up by 2.5 games, and people really need to hold off on ripping on the offense every time they don't light up an average-ish team. We faced a quality starter and an elite closer today. As for Holland, yes he is filthy, but I don't buy the "it wouldn't have mattered" reasoning. I want to send the best guy we have available up at the plate in a one-run game in the 9th.
