Again, please explain to me why steroid use is evil, but felonious assault is Teh Awesome. Steroid gives you an advantage over the field, it's like those old school FPS that had cheats that made you invincible. It's cheating. Felonious assault gives you no advantage over the field.That's why we can't have people roiding it up. But you knew that already, I guess. Really? Because every time a hitter is wearing out the Red Sox, everyone on this board is demanding that he get plunked because he's too comfortable in the box or whatever. And it's a bit of a stretch to say it's like an FPS invincibility cheat. No one knows what PEDs really do for players. No one even knows if it favors pitchers or hitters more. |

Not defending Dempster but if that is assault and battery then a runner running in to a player to breakup a DP or a runner running over the catcher is also assault. Baseball is a violent game. Another play that should be illegal. |

If someone gets plunked, he gets a free base. How on Earth doing that gives you an advantage? But people know that PEDs are harmful to your body. No sporting league is EVER going to allow that, because it sends a message they are condoning it. Other than, you know, it gives you an advantage you should not have and all. |

A lot of stuff in sports could considered that if you take them out of their context.A lot of that stuff isn't an entirely an elective decision by the player. Throwing at a guy is essentially like a cheap shot after the whistle has been blown. It's not a necessary element of play. |

Dude, I'm not saying it gives an advantage. But you can't deny that many people favor pitching guys inside and/or hitting guys as a way to gain an advantage in the game. |

The majority of all legitimate tackles in football would be classified as assault outside the football stadium. Not to mention the action that goes on most every play in the trenches. And what about boxing and mma? That by DEFINITION is assault. The world of sports is separate and exempt from the behaviour limitations of the world at large. It just is. |
