I don't usually participate in the Farrell discussions, because I don't see the games so I can't comment authoritatively. But it sure seems as though this package was kept on the shelf well past its expiration date.

Thanks for giving away the game, Farrell.

Completely predictable. Farrell just wasn't prepared going into that inning. Embarrassing.

Once again Farrell manages to completely give the game away. Seriously, fuck him.

Dempster wasn't even pitching well, for christsakes. He's been just barely surviving the entire game. He just gave up a home run and his pitch count was rising.
Just terrible, terrible managing.

Just read through the reactions to Dempster plunking A-Rod, and it seems that a majority of people didn't like it. Really? I could go off right now, but I'll just say that it's disappointing that people feel this way. You're telling me that if you were at this game, you'd be the sole Sox fan sitting down after the pitch, saying "aw shucks, we let a runner on base! This decreases our chances of winning the game by a quarter of a percent." I know I'll get lectured for this comment by the know it all's on this board, but you have a chance to send a message to A-Rod, to do something that almost every single baseball fan would love to see, and you're the NYY bitter rival, and you frown upon it? SMH.
And damn Dempster sucks and should have been taken out earlier (we've never said this before), but man do I love what he did to A-Rod. Absolutely love it.

I've defended a lot of Farrell's decisions. Not tonight. Should have had Workman up. And, Breslow ready for the top of the order. Not Britton.

UnFuckingBelievable Farrell. Oh wait, no it wasn't. Asshole! YOU are costing your team this game.

I'm beyond agitated right now. Giving away the game, constantly making the same mistake of sticking with your starter WAY too long then bringing in Britton in a situation where he has proven that he can't handle. Just stupid managing.

Why does he always want to give that extra inning to starter when they have given you nothing to have confidence in them going back out there? Its like he doesn't learn.

This kind of game strategy from a guy who bunted in the 4nth inning. You'd think he be looking to protect he lead hey'd already pissed away once before. Horrible.

Not to be forgotten: Ryan Dempster, terrible pitcher. You walk Chris freakin' Stewart on four pitches, knowing that the top of the order is coming up? Just awful.

I don't like the Sox hitting A-Rod for two reasons: 1) The Yankees have been a dead team - they don't need revving up. When the Sox plunked A-Rod in 2004, it was EXACTLY what the Sox needed to get themselves up for. The Yanks then had nothing to gain - the Sox had everything to gain. This time the Sox have NOTHING to gain by doing this and it seemed like it united the Yankees and woke them up. I have very little doubt that they'll win this game. This is because not only shouldn't the Sox have hit A-Rod, but if they were going to it should have been a much better pitcher, not one who lets way too many baserunners on base and is prone to giving up HRs, especially to said batter that he hit. And of course they'll lose because Farrell is clueless when it comes to anything tactical. Why he keeps Dempster at over 100 pitches when he's struggling tonight, but removes him in Toronto when he is sailing along - I'll never understand. It's like he has no sense of the team's pitching rythem, even though he used to be a pitcher and was the Sox pitching coach at one time. Don't get it at all!

Its still a 1 run game but now the game is in balance and Sabathia is probably out unless Tony Pena is smoking the same stuff Farrell is smoking.
Edit: Well he is.

Let's not forget that HBP that scored in this one-run game. Oh, I haven't forgotten. There are just a segment of Red Sox fans who hate Alex Rodriguez more than they want slightly better odds of winning a game in a tight playoff race. Not a totally unreasonable stance, just one I don't agree with.

Had A-Rod done anything to Ryan Dempster? Is Ryan Dempster going to hit Braun, Peralta, Melky, Cruz, Marlon Byrd, ect? BTW. I dislike A-Rod, I just do not see the point of throwing at the steroid users in general or A-Rod particularly. Dempster should let Selig do his job, and should concentrate on his job of retiring batters.

Sox are staying in Boston tonight and flying out to the coast in the AM. The idea was the guys would get a decent night's sleep. So much for that, They'll be lucky to get home by 2am. Hope they sent tomorrow's starter on ahead.

If Farrell were managing the Yankees, would anyone be up in the pen now? CC is always good for 120 pitches, right?

We have an off day on the 22nd and 26th. DL Dempster and give him some time off.
