Good move by Farrell. Peavy might not be spent but it's time to go.

How can you forget Gator? Oh, and that fella we signed from Cleveland with the long hair? What was his name again?? Always thought Gator was pretty decent LF, especially at Fenway. He read the wall as well as anyone since Yaz did. Ramirez? He was a butcher. His "nice plays" IMO were mostly balls he could have caught had he read them correctly in the 1st place and ran to them instead of having to dive after them. His time as a LF with Ortiz as a DH was a weakness in LF, nearly as bad as when Baylor was DH that forced Billy Buck to play 1b and neither should have had a glove. My 2c of course.. Manny did have that play where he made a great catch, climbed the wall, high-fived a fan, and then threw the ball back into the infield for a double play.

Xander's night is done because the NL is stupid and Farrell made a double switch.

Did that seriously just happen?

It doesn't look like such a bad move now that Ross has doubled to lead off the seventh, does it?

It doesn't look like such a bad move now that Ross has doubled to lead off the seventh, does it? It was probably the correct move. I just find NL baseball antiquated.

It was a solid move, but I know people are going to dislike it because it ended Xanny's night. I know I did.

After Drew strikes out yes.
Why the double switch? Seriously Farrell is pissing me off.

It's funny that for all the hype about Xander with the bat, he left 5 on yet he's responsible for arguably the biggest play in the game, the high chopper to end the 5th and keep the Sox in the lead
They double switch so that Breslow can stay in the game and not have to be pinch hit for in the T7. I have no issue with it, as Drew likely comes into the game for defensive reasons in the latter 3 innings anyways

Farrell needs to take a hike.

Just a nit-pick, but the biggest play(s) of the game was having the bases loaded with no outs in the first and only getting one run out of it.

If any of Drew, Pedroia or WMB suffers an injury, we have nobody capable of replacing them now that Drew was subbed in for Xander. Let me guess, Gomes at SS/3B is the solution?

Holy crap, you guys are never happy, it doesn't matter if there is or there isn't a PH or if the starter stays in the game too long or comes out early.

Don't forget the Giants inability to score with leadoff runners on 3b either, or runners on 3b with -0- out. Am watching the Giants feed tonight actually for a "changeup" and both Krukow and Jon Miller are in a state of disbelief.

With Zito now going tomorrow would they actually sit Drew to start back to back games?

Nice fielding by Ellsbury.
After Breslow works a 1-2-3 inning I feel better about the double switch.

Have I ever mentioned that I despise the National League? I wouldn't mind if it just disappeared.

Why does Eck seem so flabbergasted when a guy is successful without a dominant fastball? He also feels the need to point it out every single pitcher. Vogelsong, Peavy, Breslow, etc.

I have to say, I've enjoyed Eck quite a bit. He has his random moments like that but he adds a wealth of knowledge to the booth and has great genuine moments of enthusiasm.
Biggest AB of the game here.

I guess you have to take that out there, but frustrating that the tying run scores on a foul out.
