Ortiz has looked mortal lately. Only .167/.257/.333/.590 in the last 14 days.

This is just getting stupid at this point. Why the FUCK is Carp not in this lineup.

Great AB by Salty, down 0-2 then works a 9 pitch single.

This is just getting stupid at this point. Why the FUCK is Carp not in this lineup. At this point it's obviously that, fairly or not, Farrell doesn't think much of Carp. The question is, who's going to sign him this offseason, give him a real job, and make the Red Sox look like chumps? My money is on Oakland.

What a pathetic performance by the bats yet again while Lackey's on the mound. There's no question they're losing this one.

Farrell keeps overplaying players. Its becoming a serious problem.
Overpitching the top bullpen arms and overplaying Napoli, Victorino and Ortiz. Ortiz is clearly still sore from playing 1st and the West Coast trip. Victorino has been amazing but has generally been over used.
Carp has barely seen the field and then he sits Xander vs the lefty and plays him against the righty. Talk about not setting your guys up for success.

Why does this team refuse to score runs for John Lackey?

Heading into tonight, the Red Sox have been averaging 5.3 runs per nine innings on the season, but only 3.5 per nine when Lackey is in the game. By the crude measure of how many runs a team averages minus pitcher run support, Lackey has been the unluckiest pitcher in baseball.

Theres nothing unlucky about Napoli going 0-3 with 2 K's against a righty.

Xander will hit a 2 run dinger to tie it. Edit: Damn!

Xander will hit a 2 run dinger to tie it. overexcitedly swing at the first pitch because he feels the pressure of Red Sox fans wanting him to tie the game with one swing.

Theres nothing unlucky about Napoli going 0-3 with 2 K's against a righty. Yes there is. Napoli is hitting .247/.335/.453 with a 35.6% K rate against righthanders, which isn't going to get him a Silver Slugger but is certainly a lot better than .000/.000/.000 with a 66/7% K rate.

If Victorino actually gets a hit off O'Day, he should never bat as a lefty again.

Sometimes you forget how fast Ellsbury is (not often, but sometimes). And then he scores on that play.
Wow.

Ellsbury scoring from 2B on a single to shallow left. Love it.

According to gameday it was a line-out. Was it not hit hard? Not really, jammed him a little bit. Xander has had better lineouts, at least in his SSS at MLB. But it doesn't matter because Pedroia!
