Why is Mo in in the 8th inning?

Crunch time for the Yankees, Robertson is out. It's either Rivera for two or someone like Hughes or Joba. Very un-Girardi like move.

Why is Mo in in the 8th inning? Yanks are doing what you numbers guys have been calling for teams to do. Best pitcher in for the meat of the order no matter the inning. If he goes two even better. Thought that's what you guys have been saying should be done.

I'm not saying it's a bad move. But it is unusual, and since I'm only following via gamecast, I was wondering if there was another motivation (a la the All-Star Game).

Yeah.. Salty is the catcher of the future.. Sign the guy to a LT contract..
Pitch was high and Workman was trying to throw it hard, but it should have been caught.

Ugh. That run is on the battery anyway as Ichiro has become an average runner and a catcher with good accuracy would've thrown him out at 2nd.
But 3-4 in the Bronx. I'll take that anytime.
Go Seattle.

Why in the world were they even pitching to Soriano with first and second base open?
Granted, we got outplayed in that game, but such a shame to lose out on a potential sweep that way. The Yankees had nothing left in their bullpen.

Bone head play like that is not about a loss. Like was posted above. 3 out of 4 is great. Boston was rolling along and something as horrible as that can send a team on a just as bad losing streak.
Just a terrible play and he makes those kinds all the time. People get onto Lavarnway for slow reactions behind the plate while Salty gets a pass and it's just wrong. The only catcher on the active roster now who moves decent ATM is Ross and he's the oldest of the lot.

One big problem area for this team is that they can't stop the running game. It is an obvious problem and signing Salty long term is not going to help it. the sample size is pretty significant on that one.

The Yankees had nothing left in their bullpen. You go after Soriano over Cano any day and twice on Sunday over Cano D.C. That run is on Salty.

Ellsbury has a non-displaced compression fracture in his right foot. Farrell says that the Red Sox expect him back before the end of the regular season.
Doubront being skipped in the rotation. Buchholz on Tuesday, Dempster on Wednesday.

You could have intentionally walked both to load the bases, Cano wouldn't have mattered.
