This sux but 1 additional ARoid comment.
A few weeks back, I read an interview with his new attorney. In that interview, he said, not implied, that The Yankees president tried to coerce his hip surgeon into blotching the surgery so that they could collect the insurance money. He said he has email proof and that the doctor has agreed to testify to that. This might get a lot dirtier before it's done.

Uehara is now 4 batters from Bobby Jenks' record of 41 consecutive batters retired in relief (2007, 7/17 to 8/20), and 8 from Mark Buerhle's record of 45 (2009, 7/18 to 7/28). Uehara: 12 G, 12.1 IP over 24 days. 17 K, 7 PU, 9 GB, 4 OF-FB, 0 LD. 143 pitches, 118 strikes (83%; 40 swinging, 22 looking, 36 fouls, 20 in play). 1-0, 7 saves (also pitched with leads of 11, 4, and 4 runs). Streak started after he gave up a 2-out 2B with a 5-run lead. 3 inherited runners, none of whom advanced. Good god. That's astonishing. Four flyballs to the outfield, and ZERO line drives. That's a pretty good case for the most dominant stretch of pitching in major league history you make, Eric. As for using him last night ... pffft. It really doesn't matter all that much what the game situation is from here on out. Whenever the Sox have any lead in the 9th, Koji should pitch enough to stay sharp and on a roll, so he's not going on any extended rests or anything. Clearly, he shouldn't pitch too much so that it taxes him, but those of us on the outside can only know that by its result. And, obviously, hasn't been a problem yet.

I'll just say that the magic number is down to 7, the same numbers left until I get my copy of GTA V (pre-ordered, I live in Brazil, mind you). Coincidence? I think not. Thats pretty cool you live in Brazil. I've been learning Portuguese for a couple of years and practice it whenever I meet someone from there.

He looked like he was really hurting last night. JBJ did well against the Fat Bastard in April. He needs to be playing every game Taco does not, imo. Like others, I'm disappointed JBJ is not further along in his development. He didn't exactly tear it up at Pawtucket. He needs the reps. Thought we might see Lavarnway today too. He doesn't appear to have much of a future behind the plate with Boston if he can't unseat Ross against a lefty. Ryan should shop ebay this winter for a first baseman's mitt a la Scottie H.

Has Sabathia been going good enough as of late to give up this many early outs? Both the sacrifices served their purpose I guess but Im not sure if thats the way to go this early

The Red Sox need to ride out this cold streak and hope WMB turns it around come playoff time, but they should at least make a point of getting XB more at bats in case he doesn't.

JBJ would've had it.
Pedey is a pretty good shortstop.

Got a run home but Middlebrooks has that lost look at the plate again. Now 0 for his last 14, I think. I actually think winning AL Player of the Week was a bad thing for him. Might've lost focus a bit and now trying to wini it again with every swing.

Now 0 for his last 14, I think. I actually think winning AL Player of the Week was a bad thing for him. Might've lost focus a bit and now trying to wini it again with every swing. It just may be the case that he is a streak hitter, and we jumped the gun on him, believing he was now a different hitter. That was his MO in the minors. For whatever reason these hitters lose their rhythm for some time. The next few weeks should be telling for him.

Agreed, though I will say he's had more than a few competitive ABs in this drought, which is at least good to see.

My usual Lester did it again post. He just went over 200 innings. His worse year since he became an regular is 191 innings. He also has 6 straight years of 30 plus starts. I know some on here don't think much of showing up stats, but I respectfully think they are wrong. Clay B has great stuff and I hope he helps win the world series, but he's never hit 191 innings or 30 starts.

Again, another double play swinging away with runners on 1st and 2nd. Would've liked the sacrifice there.

It's conceivable with JBJ in center and Vic in right that Lester has a one hit shutout today. Great performance.

Again, another double play swinging away with runners on 1st and 2nd. Would've liked the sacrifice there. To be fair Nava hit it on a line, it just went right at the fielder. A couple feet to the left or right and we're looking at an RBI base knock. C'est la vie.

Lester may not have the consistency to be a true ace, but when he's on, he's just as good. He now has a 1.86 ERA over his last eight starts.

Any win against NYY is a great win. Beating one of their money pit "Aces" is even better.
