Agreed. If he was just going to see Rodriguez/DeJesus and Zobrist, I'd have rather gone with Morales. Yes, I was surprised Farrell didn't mix and match in the 7th with Morales and Workman, and try and buy more time to see how the game was going to shake out. It's the sort of thing you can try with a 2-0 lead in games.

"Three strong arms in the outfield for Boston." They're also still going with the "three center fielders" thing. This is these guys' third game; how do they not have accurate scouting reports yet?

I don't know how. Like, really, I don't have any idea how they are this uninformed. This, combined with such shoddy camera work, make TBS baseball coverage so unprofessional. Atta boy Taz. He's going to be huge for us all postseason. Scott Lauber ?@scottlauber 11s Tazawa whiffs Myers to end 7th. So, here's question for Farrell: Back to Tazawa in 8th, or Morales for Loney (lefty)-Jennings-Joyce (lefty)? What are we thinking?

Tazawa struck Myers out 3 times in that AB.
Not only was granting the TO once Tazawa had begun his motion complete horseshit, the ump is changing the zone from pitcher to pitcher. Peralta got all of the black and more, Tazawa got none of it.

Anyone else want to bring Tazawa back for another inning, if we don't score? Five outs from him would make up for getting only one from Breslow, which I agree made no sense.

I think Farrell throws Morales for Loney.

Morales would seem to make sense for the 8th because of Loney and Joyce. But if he gets into a jam, we're basically just relying on Koji for the time being. May not be the end of the world, but if we go into extras, we're going to be relying on Workman and Dempster. Hmm, Myers out of the game. Joyce goes from DH to right. This could be big.

Here we go, boys. This is where the game is won. Let''s hope. And let's hope Napoli hasn't reverted to June form.

Joyce going to right means the Rays lose their DH-- it becomes the pitcher spot, now. Maddon is such an idiot sometimes.

What a perfect statement of just how awful Delmon Young is defensively.

What a perfect statement of just how awful Delmon Young is defensively. He had Sam Fuld on the bench though, right?

Announcers also keep on asserting that Ortiz is slow and a base clogger, when he actually runs decently for a guy his size. He's infinitely faster than Adrian Gonzalez, for instance.

Do you pinch-run for Papi here?

I actually agree with Maddon - that spot doesn't come up for nine more plate appearances. Delmon Young is a worse right fielder than you or me. Pinch running for Ortiz here is much, much dumber. EDIT: I guess Fuld is on the roster. I thought Kelly Johnson was the only other option.

Not a big fan of pinch-running for Ortiz here.

What a perfect statement of just how awful Delmon Young is defensively. Yup. I was thinking they'd insert K-Johnson into left and shift S-Rod to right, though. Even if it was Delmon, giving up your DH is highly suspect. Berry for Papi. Do-or-die time. EDIT: WOW! Seemed completely out to me. No replay yet.

I don't necessarily mind pinch-hitting for Papi here. He'd next come up in the 10th, and the Red Sox have Gomes and Carp on the bench and few other candidates to pinch-hit for (just Nava versus a lefty, I think).
