Napoli taking grounders at 3b a few moments ago, per 7 news. It seems that Xander's stock keeps rising, slowly but steadily. All Nava has to do is to get on base one time and not screw up otherwise to top Gomes's performance so far. Let's hope he's the star of the game with 4 hits. Pinch hit from Drew, if Middlebrooks has already been used? Slide Xander over to SS hopefully. That is interesting no matter how it turns out. Doubleswitch opportunities?

Another smart thing would be that when you feel like starting a post with "I really hope Farrell is smart enough to...", you type a draft of it, save it, and come back later to see if there are six or seven things you've forgotten to think about that make the post look ridiculous. Well, actually, I forgot one thing*, Nice try.

Eric, try to ignore the snark. You are a valued poster. I'm sure a lot of us appreciate the work you put in and yes, the insight. ... Just to be clear, I also think Eric is a uniquely valuable poster. I think of him as a slugger whose fine game has some remarkable little flaws that I'm amazed he does not fix.

It looks like a lot of pressure is going to be on Nava today. He's protecting Ortiz in the lineup and do we think they will really pitch to Ortiz if they have any other option. I would think not. This is a great opportunity for Nava to get that standing O I've been dreaming about. Here is wishing for the best to a young man who truly deserves it.

If they do pitch carefully to Ortiz and not give him much to hit, I would think they would go right after Nava. Nava needs to swing the bat tonight.

Wait, this guy is supposed to be lousy!? He's throwing 96-98 with late movement on the ball.

Get him out of there. This is like batting practice with those 89 mph get me over fastballs.

I would save Workman for tomorrow as I don't see Buchholz lasting more than three of four innings, if that, in game 4 of the World Series.

Someone explain to me why everyone was saying Kelly was bad and that the "big worry" might be that we may knock him out early and have to face their pen for four innings. Right now this guy looks like he has an electric FB and just enough of the other two pitches to keep everyone honest. He also looks completely locked in.

Outside of Pedey and Ortiz everyone else is hitting .094 or something along those lines. I'd be worried about anyone pitching.

So who thinks that Salty will get a qualifying offer. He probably has about the same chance of Drew receiving one.

Unless Drew can keep every ball hit from getting through the left side of the IF he's not worth this. I mean at least Middlebrooks was making contact and drawing some walks. This is just horrific to watch.

So who think Salty will get a qualifying offer. He probably has about the same chance of Drew receiving one. So 90%? if not 95% for both, Salty probably gets resigned or at least offered 2-3 years. Salty is just showing the effects of too many games this year. With Ross being hurt and Lavarnway regressing to not even being an adequate back up.
