Not a great game for Ellsbury to completely crap the bed. Yeah, he's been pretty bad, but so has Shane and, tonight, Nava. If they want to win games in St. Louis they need the top of the order to do something because they're giving out outs at the bottom. Xander in the two hole going forward?...

Baffles me why Bogey isn't ahead of gomes. Agree. I'm so tired of watching Gomes stink in clutch situations. He needs to make up for it right here and right now.

Not Sarcasm, What's the probability that the run is going to be RBI when there're 2 outs man 1st & 2nd? are more innings from Buck more valuable than that chance? Is a legit question. Doubront will go a second day in a row, and Dempster should be able to grab a couple innings.
If Dempster is in with the game on the line that means the manager failed the team horribly in my eyes. I don't think it's reasonable to have expected Buchholz to be able to go more than an inning longer. I'd have removed him from the game as soon as the next baserunner reached, especially considering it was the top of the lineup, and I'm much more comfortable that he didn't end up coming back out at all. Plus, with our offense being so desperate, you have to at least take a chance at getting an RBI hit. Also, burning Carp isn't a big loss, especially considering the Card's lefties and Napoli's availability. I agree with all your comments really. I was thinking more about the situation of the used up BP and trying get the most amounts of outs without going to them. By jmei True. I was too conservative in my reasoning, after all no runs no W and that's all that matters at the end of the game. Thank you both, I appreciate the explanation.

So when do you think about Napoli replacing Papi at first with the lead.

Thank you for doing something tangible to help Jonny Gomes!!! For intangibles I give credit to Big Papi for gathering everybody together to listen to his sermon begging/imploring somebody to help him.

So when do you think about Napoli replacing Papi at first with the lead. Papi will hit in five batters, so I think he gets at least that at-bat.

So when do you think about Napoli replacing Papi at first with the lead. Probably after his next PA, if this lead holds.

We need to ride Doubront for as many innings as possible now. St Louis looks uncomfortable against him, but have had good swings against both Breslow and Uehara.
