Can someone remind me why breslow was brought into this game? He's your left-handed setup man. He's looked bad lately, but Doubront was tiring and the only alternative is Morales.

Why the hell did they take out Doubront there for giving up one hit?

Hard to put this one on anyone but Breslow. To think otherwise is relying on hindsight.

Are you watching the game? Felix had nothing when he was removed, who could have been brought in instead?

Do you need a lefty on lefty matchup with carpenter?

He did it again.
"In its simplest form, in black and white, I didn’t make pitches tonight. I’ve not made pitches in other situations. I feel like I need to be aware of what my shortcomings were, to make sure that I can move forward from it. But if given the same situation, I’d like to think the outcome could be better if I execute pitches."

Can someone remind me why breslow was brought into this game? Because he's been a reliable reliever all season. Because this board has written off Morales. Because this board has written off Dempster. Because Doubront is no longer available. Unfortunately, Breslow looks as though he may have reached the end of his rope for this season. It happens. We were concerned whether Uehara was going to be able to hold on until the end. Here is an example of a guy maybe falling a week short.

Amazing how he went from being a dominant lefty to someone who can't buy an out.

Smart move to take him out, his stuff was pretty much non existent against the past 2 hitters. Bringing Breslow in, on the other hand, makes me very very nervous. The difference between the Holliday and Robinson ABs were night and day. Doubront came in sharp hitting his spots and a tick or two over his normal velocity this season. He was gassed by the Descalso AB. OK, but he was throwing strikes and was about to face a lefty in Carpenter with 2 out. Give him that hitter then let Tazawa come in to face Beltran making him hit lefty where he's stated he struggles due to the rib injury.

I disagree, let Doubront face the lefty or bring in Tazawa right there, Breslows last two outings looked just like this one.

I wouldn't have removed Doubront. And this isn't second guessing. Breslow has left my circle of trust.

Doesn't Holliday have a weird sad look in his eyes? He seems so depressed out there.

Not a huge split, but one worth taking advantage of.

Napoli time with Seigrist coming in? You can have Berry pitch run for him and play RF.

Why not PR for Papi try to steal an extra run and bring Napoli in for defense at 1B?

I was thinking double switch Ortiz out of the game, put Napoli in the 9 spot, and pinchrun Berry for Ortiz. Perhaps now would be a good time to steal and see if we can get that run back.

Ortiz is unbelievable. The rest of the roster is struggling to hit anything, and he's playing as if it's beer league softball.
Sorry. After Seagrist the Cards have no more lefty relievers. You HAVE to leave Ortiz in in case the game goes extras. For most any other player, any other situation, yes. The way Ortiz is playing creates a different situation.

Is John Lackey going to pitch the 8th inning? It sure looks like it. I know it's his day to throw, but wouldn't that jeopardize his strength for Game 6 if it gets to it?

This is an indication of how close to the end of their rope this team is. And I will bet my bottom dollar (and my top one and all the ones in the middle as well) that Lackey at least volunteered to do this, and maybe took Farrell by the collar and said "You're going to let me do this!"

Another head scratcher, Tazawa threw two pitches, he comes out of the pen, thats what he does. Now we are asking something different from somebody outside of what they normally do.
