I'd think Rondo (despite what Danny is saying), Bass (If we can dump Lee's contract, I'd think we could get a pick, albeit a 2nd rounder, plus a free-agent-to-be for him) and Green (disconnect on his value may prove a challenge) are the most tradeable on this team.
That, of course, is assuming that Bradley, Sullinger and Olynyk (not going to be a starter but I think he'll make an above average 3rd big) are keepers.

You are absolutely right in Hump. Salary matching and C's unwillingness (rightfully) to take on longterm commitments makes a deal very difficult.

Another good night for the Celtics. Not quite great as a couple bad teams lost who flirted with victory. However a C's loss coupled with Wins from Brooklyn, Washington and Toronto make it a good night. Those 3 teams all seem to be making pushes forward and should leave the Celtics in the dust.
Currently the 8th worst record / 2.5 games from second worst /1.5 into lottery

Played with trade machine and moving Hump is almost impossible. Only trade I found that may somewhat work us with Phoenix for Okafor and his expiring contract. Don't see how he fits into their lineup though. Okafor is injured and ay not return so if they felt a Hump could help their team as they fight for the playoffs then maybe they'd be motivated, especially if we gave another piece that could help as well like Crawford... Highly doubtful.. It's too bad because he's a solid player but the contract is terrible.

Knicks upset the Heat last night moving to 5-5 in their last 10 and jumped Boston. Equal wins with one less game.
Celts now 7th worst record :-).

Read that Detroit is looking at moving Monroe so they can move Smith to the 4. Played with some scenarios and Green, Bass and Crawford/Bradley for Monroe and Villanueva plus low salary filler works. Wonder if DET would be at all interested in such a deal if Celts included a first rd pick like (the LAC or ATL pick this year)...
Both guys from DET are in last years of contracts, but Monroe's restricted and you'd sign him. Him and Sullinger would be nice together.
For DET the lineup would be:
C Drummond PF Smith SF Green SG Caldwell-Pope PG Jennings
Bench:
Bass Bradley Bynum Stuckey Billups

That actually makes sense for both sides (I'd prefer the Celts to give up Crawford instead of Bradley) and it also makes me wonder how on Earth Joe Dumars still has a job.

The Atl/Nets pick is looking good right now since Atl is going down hill with the Horford injury. You don't want to give that one up.

They may lose some ground, but are 5.5 games up on a playoff spot. Brooklyn looks like it could also end up in the playoffs. Boston is currently in the #5 spot.

Yeah I forgot that to miss the playoffs in the East you have to really really go on a skid. Never mind.

I hate the trade the Celtics just made. Jordan Crawford isn't very good, but the Philadelphia pick is just going to end up as two second-rounders, and Joel Anthony is assuredly going to exercise his $3.8m player option for 2015. So basically the Celtics traded one rotation player, one lottery ticket, and rented out $4m of cap space next year for three second round picks (one of which will be in the 55-60 range, two of which will come in 2015 and 2016). Meh. Maybe they like Joel Anthony and think he can be a rotation big or something, because otherwise I'm not seeing the point.

Considering we got brooks as a throw in and crawford for an injured barbosa turning them into 3 2nds and a little extra cap which we probably wont need anyways is pretty good. Crawford really isnt a starter on a solid team and has poor defense while brooks cant play for a bad team. I wish we couldve gotten a First but this is much better than nothing.

Am I correct that the pick is top 14 protected this year and next before turning into 2 seconds?
Philly isn't a very good team now, but they have some good young players. I could certainly see them making a run at a playoff spot in the east next year.

I don't know what to make of the trade. I'm glad they got draft picks, but like Jmei said unless the 76ers make the playoffs this year or next year the protected pick turns into a second. Who knows, maybe Ainge will end up being able to package these two picks in addition to the other picks he already has to do something awesome. The trade adds money because Anthony will exercise his option and Brooks has a team option and Crawford could've been a RFA. But it's not like Anthony's contract is going to throw a wrench in the Celtics rebuilding plan. Ultimately I think it's just selling high on Crawford before Rondo returns. If in order to get something in exchange for him the Celtics had to take on an extra salary, so be it. It's better than not getting anything at all for Crawford.

Am I correct that the pick is top 14 protected this year and next before turning into 2 seconds? Philly isn't a very good team now, but they have some good young players. I could certainly see them making a run at a playoff spot in the east next year. The Sixers have a front office that would probably rather tank to keep the pick than sneak into the back end of the playoffs next year. The difference in value between a pick in the 12-16 range and two second round picks is big enough that if it's at all close, they'll deal their veterans to slip down the standings. The only way I see that pick staying a first-rounder is if whoever the Sixers draft in this year's lottery ends up being a proto-star and elevating them to an unavoidable playoff spot next year, which is possible though unlikely. Maybe hate is too strong of a word-- it's not that I think Crawford should have fetched a first-round pick or anything, but ideally he would have fetched a good second-rounder or two or at least an interesting young player (I had my eyes on Kent Bazemore, Summer League All-Star). But I think the Celtics should have gotten more in return for renting out their cap space, and the opportunity cost means they're less flexible going into the offseason. It makes fitting an Avery Bradley extension under the cap more difficult and means they can't take fliers on interesting players (e.g. how the Blazers picked up Robin Lopez and Thomas Robinson for next to nothing) or rent out their cap space for a better second-rounder. ADD: I think about this way: the Sixers pick for Crawford is probably a fair swap, maybe slightly in favor of the Celtics. But Miami's second-round pick for taking on Joel Anthony would be way in favor of Miami, enough that the trade as a whole tilts against Boston.

I like the trade. Crawford is a guy that I thought they should trade because of how streaky he is. He'd inevitably go on a couple hot streaks that win them games they really didn't want to win. I didn't think there was any chance they could get a first round pick for him so I'm thrilled with the package. I'd say the Sixers have a at least a 1/3 chance of making the playoffs next year with how weak the East is and I also think they are further along in the rebuilding process, so tanking next year is again is less likely.
So yeah, trading Crawford and eating his contract is worth 1/3 of a first rounder and a second for me.

The trade was tough. I loved to watch Crawford, and I was hoping they would get a little more. But I think Danny could see a real possibility of the Sixers sneaking in next year considering Noel will be back and they have 2 1st rounders (currently projected at 4 and 12). I also don't think he would be too upset if instead we get 3 2nd's, considering Brooks had no role and Crawford probably isn't a long term solution. I agree, taking on Anthony was stupid considering he probably accepts his option, but it's not that bad.
What do you guys think ends up happening with Rondo / What do you prefer?
Rumors from other gm's say they think Danny deals him, and probably before the deadline. I think it would make sense if someone gives us full value for him, and I think there has to be one team willing to when he's healthy. I still think a bottom 5 team might be willing to give up their pick for a proven all star PG who distributes better than anyone. Maybe Rondo, Clips 1st for the Bucks pick and Giannis. Or Rondo, Clips 1st and Bass for the 6ers pick and Turner. Im not exactly sure on his worth, but it could be higher than we'd think to some gm out there.
But maybe a better route would be to really pursue Hayward and/or Monroe in the offseason though. Adding Asik for the right price could help too.
Maybe Rondo/Bradley/Hayward/Monroe/Sully
I just pray we can some how land Embiid! James Young would be nice though.

I was 100% about trading Rondo but I'm, at least, down to 50/50. If you could tell me that they could keep Rondo and still be 1 of the 4/5 worst teams in the league, then I'd keep him without question. I just really think they need 1 of the top guys in this draft and I believe Rondo is going to hurt that cause.
I don't see any way that someone give us a top 5 pick for him (Steve Kyler at BasketballInsiders just said the he didn't think Rondo would garner a 1st rounder - more likely a number of rookie scale players). I did like the concept of the Sacramento idea (despite the absurdity of the insistance that it was actually happening by DM) in that McLemore would be a nice alternative to getting a lottery pick this year.
Maybe we can keep RR and trade others (giving him less weapons to win with THIS year). If we could have a future of RR, Bradley (interested to see what he gets as an RFA) and Sully as starters; Olynyk off the bench and whatever they can get using the draft picks (again, at least 1 high one this year) that could be pretty good. Of course, the problem is also that we'd have to pay Rondo before the team is ready to compete (2-3 years).

Well, Celtics named Rondo the captain tonight. I get that it's largely symbolic and all, but I also think it points to the fact that they aren't going to trade him, at least this season.

I know people here don't believe in a player raising their game in the playoffs or certain situations, but I do and Rondo typically plays great in the playoffs. He's a fierce competitor and a hardworking basketball junky who's steadily improved his weaknesses. Still isn't a great jump shooter but last year it had to be respected. In the NBA, you need 2-3 high level players with at least one star and I think Rondo gives the Celts one of those. Come playoff time, he's a top point guard, maybe top 3 in the NBA. I'd build around him.

I'm inclined to agree with you guys regarding build around Rondo specially if they land a top pick. Some of those guys would benefit greatly from having a playmaker like him around specially the bigs.
If they could get a potential dominant wing player that would be great.
Edit: Also I don't really think Rondo hurts the record this year I think they'll limit his minutes and give him some days off to ease his recovery. I know he is competitive but he's also intelligent and knows what's best for him and the team.

He's a respectable jump shooter now. Isn't this what the article is basically saying? I know it was an admitted nitpick, but if we are trying to say he's a great jump shooter then we just have a different idea of what that is. He may be one of the better ones from a spot or two but that doesn't make him overall a great jump shooter. I am very comfortable with where his jump shot was/is when combined with the rest of his game.
