It's just some really bad in-game mgmt. Would anyone here have brought Breslow into a 1 run game they way he is pitching? Would anyone have hit Gomes vs a righty with 1 out and runners on the corners in the 6th the way Nava's been hitting? And starting Pierzynski vs a lefty? Really? I'm fairly sure that upon his call-up Nava negotiated an anti-pinch-hitting clause into his contract. Only explanation that makes sense.

I'd be all for DFA'ing Breslow and calling up Britton. Or even adding Hill/Layne/Hernandez to the 40 man.

It is never a good idea to pinch hit for Gomes. He told me so himself.

God I really hope we don't end up .500 at the end of the season with a mid 1st round unprotected draft pick... that whole scenario seems so pointless to me.

The way they're going they might lose 85 - 90 games. The offense stinks, the rotation is still unsettled, and the bullpen finds ways to lose close games, which is hard to do when you consider that Koji is practically unhittable. I've also gotta say - this is a boring team to watch. Get down 3-2 and you feel like they can't come back from such a lofty deficit.

The bullpen has been very good when you look at the big picture. Every team has bullpens that lose games.
What is more unsettling to me is all this talk of the Red Sox possibly becoming buyers. I'm not sure if that is just hot air or if its true but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense given all our holes unless its a minor buy like we did with Salty a few years back.

I've got no problem being buyers if the player is here beyond this year. We need a bat or two. Would never turn down a good starting pitcher either.

Holt 3B, Pedroia 2B, Ortiz DH, Napoli 1B, Nava LF, Pzynski C, Sizemore RF, Drew SS, Bradley CF
Uhm didn't Bogaerts just have an off day recently? Oh well, at least Herrera gets one too.

We should have an excellent opportunity to be pitching sellers, especially with the pitchers needing promotions throughout the minor league system.

They would have brought in a lefty if Nava PH for Gomes. Always the same excuse. I say let them bring in a lefty. The more relievers they use the better, especially when it's not the last game of the series yet.

Besides, they didn't bring in the Lefty for Pierzynski when they muffed the DP on Gomes ground ball to Cabrera.

Is it not reviewable whether a ball was foul tipped?
