Drew out again. Damn - I predicted he'd go down with a 20 game injury the day before he was supposed to be activated. Just missed by 5 days. Guess I owe Lucchino that steak dinner now...

My god, that bottom of the order is reaching 2013 Houston Astros levels of "holy hell".

My god, that bottom of the order is reaching 2013 Houston Astros levels of "holy hell". Indeed. Hard to put rallies together with five straight sub-.300 OBP guys. EDIT: On further review, Herrera actually has a .311 OBP. To go with his .246 SLG. Sigh.

My god, that bottom of the order is reaching 2013 Houston Astros levels of "holy hell". Could anyone ever have predicted as lethargic of a lineup as this team has managed to put on the field, even with *1* guy hurt in Victorino? It's beyond shameful in the lack of foresight.

Well, besides Victorino, their starting SS is injured, their starting 3B is getting a day off, and their starting C is getting a day off. Anytime you're missing four starters, the lineup is going to look a little weak.

And this being the great game of baseball, they'll probably win tonight.

Not that this is an issue for tonight, since he's getting the night off, but do they REALLY need to baby Bogaerts and keep him at 3B with Drew on the roster, even when Drew isn't playing?
I mean, I guess the difference is that one of the outfielders would be playing instead, but I don't get the "we need to keep him comfortable" thing. He's a big boy. He can play short.

Batting Pedroia 3rd is acceptable, but he's really not going well enough to bat him 2nd.

Seems like the Torres signing successfully motivated Sizemore.

Personally, I don't ever want to see him at SS again. I don't think he is a major league SS so IMO just stick him at third and let him learn the position. Hopefully we are solidified at that spot for the next decade.

Really - DFA Herrera and go with Xander til August when Drew comes back. Or if they really feel a .200 hitting SS is essential bring up Marrero and at least get the plus D.

Do they never get sick of showing the Wally Wave on NESN? I wouldn't be watching if the Cleveland announcers weren't so horrible...

At this point, they desperately need every single game if they're to get themselves back in contention, and the difference between Bogaerts/Herrera/Holt and Holt/Bogaerts/Nava (or Gomes) is a pretty sizable one.

The Red Sox had a truly bizarre year last year. They had no business winning the World Series. They got career years from tons of people. They had tremendous amounts of situational luck. This season seems to be things balancing themselves back out.
