Ross may be pathetic but the plate umpire has been pretty inconsistent with pitches at the bottom (or below) the zone.

And again Herrera at bat with two runners in scoring position.

You know what a good time to hit a triple is? When the bases are loaded or you at least have men on 2nd and 3rd.

I take the triple and hustle but dude a single either time before would've been more valuable.
Besides, that's no way to bunt.

I had frankly written off Brock Holt prior to this season. Shows how much I know.

I had frankly written off Brock Holt prior to this season. Shows how much I know. Can you please make this the postscript at the bottom of your screen.? Oh, and is there a setting so it is the default for the rest of us? Lol

Missed half the interview but crowd announcer with Kopech and another draftee.
Followed by Bradley being Bradley for a DP.

From looking at JBJ's numbers a little, he is as advertised defensively so far and he's not that far off from projected offensively. Maybe we are expecting too much from him in general. He hit .271 in AA and .274 in AAA. His zips for this year was .235. Steamer .241. He wasn't projected to hit that well this year.
He may well be a .260 hitter in his good years with plus D. I'm certainly hopefull it is better but realistically we may not be able to expect him to be above .280 in any year at the mlb level.
I think Betts is playing CF for a reason. And it's not that he just projects as the best fit there. We may well be looking at a platoon situation there before year end. So far it doesn't look like JBJ has much of a split but Betts certainly does. If Betts is above average D, his bat may well put JBJ on the bench.

I like JBJ... if he can just get that OBP up a bit he'll be a solid everyday player in my book. Could even platoon him a bit.

Or Betts to lf and Bradley in cf.
If Mookie can be a top ten lead off hitter, that makes jbj at nine tolerable.
Jbj at nine is not the 2014 issue. It is the utter lack of production throughout the lineup that results in the piss poor record.
On the other hand, if Victorino is healthy for the last two thirds of the year, and Papi, Napoli, and Pedroa recover, this can still be a playoff team.

I said it the other day: I think JBJ is what he is already. I don't think there's much projection left with him. He is a gold glove caliber centerfielder and no. 9 hitter.

I feel like if we give up on Jackie and trade him he'll just end up as another ex-red sox who becomes a very productive player for Oakland.

There's never any more projection when someone has a full month and a half in the bigs.
See Pedroia, Dustin or even Mays, Willy.
With jbj d in center, and Bogartes +++ at the plate! they combine to more than offset the others weaknesses.
The key is the rest of the cast.
And I think we are looking at an internal upgrade at catcher, and Lf.
Rf could be an issue. Either Victorino comes back or we throw young but duplicitous assets at the problem.
