Every good hitter on the team just looks ice-cold at the plate. That's especially true for the guys you need to carry the team offensively-- think Bogaerts, Pedroia, Ortiz, and Napoli.

Pedroia has missed at least 2 at Fenway by a combined 6 inches at the wall, and gets this one 3 inches over Cespedes' glove.
It surely looked like Cespedes had that play made up until the last second

Wish we'd had Peavy back when he had his best stuff and command. The talent is diminished, but I love his demeanor on the mound.

Why is Peavy coming out for the 7th? He's looked worse than his line all night.

I still don't fault the decision. Sometimes defensible ideas don't work out.

BIG PAPI in for BRADLEY!!! lets go!! Gregerson has been lights out all year long, and he is again. This is a tough Oakland team, made more so at night in that stadium.

after a double by pedroia the next two hitters, Napoli and pierzyski swing at the first pitch to kill the momentum that we had. ball game over, i hate how pierzyski never takes a strike. unbelievable

Bottom of the order up. He throws to first so many times he loses his release point and walks bleepin Callaspo anyway. Then gives up a single too Jon Bench..err...Jaso. Peavy is mediocre. But, that's Capuano's fault.

He hit the ball 400 feet. Just didn't work out. As to your other point, I tend to think we should be sellers this year, though I'm not locked into that opinion yet. I just don't think we have the same length down the batting order that we did last year, even when healthy. Too many guys who either aren't ready yet or are just struggling this year.

The team (offense) is not enough to consistently score 3-4 runs even. Victorino's Hammy's are worse injury wise than Lynn's back ever were and they desperately need him with this offensively challenged lineup. Pedroia seems to have lost some of his power. Napoli is the same ice cold for 1-2 weeks, then hot for a few days hitter. Ortiz is starting to look mortal. Just too many holes. Move the guys they can pitching wise and get ready for 2015 with more rookie positional players as well. Betts and maybe Cecchini, possibly Marrero over Cecchini by August. Take out the high explosives and get ready. One large cut hurts less than these tiny slices and this current team is miserable. Get it over with.

Now that Buchholz is coming back there must be some room on the phantom DL for Peavy, right? If by "phantom DL" you mean "the roster of another big league team," certainly.
