Buchholz escapes a jam in the 1st inning, lets see if he can build from his last 3 starts which have been great and pitch well against a good Royals lineup.

Farrell had a right to be po'ed at the ump there... that was a bad deal with Buch already in the delivery.

Where's Jerry Remy? Steve Lyons is insufferable.

Should we be careful with Buchholz? Should Clay be on an innings limit? He has never been healthy really besides 2010 and 2012, So should we be saving his arm for next season?

Why is Bradley back in boston. He is a mess!!! The minor league season is over and you might as well get him playing time while the games don't matter. But yeah, he's awful. That was just a miserable AB.

KC announcers said that Betts will be playing second base tomorrow. Had not heard that yet.

This team is NOTHING without BIG PAPI!! Pretty tired refrain. I note that when I posted "This team is nothing with Big Papi" in a recent gameday thread after Ortiz struck out or GIDPed in 3 big spots in a game, noone bothered to offer a defense. All you're doing is reinforcing Big Papi's good moments in your mind while purging your memory of the opposite ones, to reinforce your preconceived narrative that Ortiz is "clutch".

Off topic: Stanton just got hit in the face with a pitch. I'm blacked out from the game on MLB.tv, but according to people who did see it, it's really bad

Fun fact: by both fWAR and bWAR, David Ortiz is only the fourth-best position player on the team. Both agree that Pedroia and Napoli are better than Ortiz, with fWAR also preferring Brock Holt and bWAR also preferring Daniel Nava.

Off topic: Stanton just got hit in the face with a pitch. I'm blacked out from the game on MLB.tv, but according to people who did see it, it's really bad I'm watching it (live in Lakeland) 88mph and they didn't give him the bag even, said it was a swing. Pitch hit him just below the eyeball. After they got him off the field, Players all over the field over not getting the bag. Both benches now erupting. Edit: 3-4 ejections from this brawl. Umps have lost control. Stanton is hurt bad btw. Tony C? They took Stanton's dad with him to the hospital out of the stands.

Anyone that can watch the Marlins, try if they got MLB and can split screen. Hutton is having one of his classic losing it fits. It's beautiful. He's right the umps have blown 2 calls horribly and will probably be shown on mlb channel, but he's about to blow a fuse.

Hedley was also hit in the mouth with a Jake McGee fastball. He did get up off the ground, though it took a long time.
