Well it is like getting a first because any first you'd get is a late first. Not projecting him as a starter and suggesting he's a great shooter from 3, but his "potential" is there, which is what the team needs to do. Even if he's developed to flip again later whatever. The point is Green needs to be gone to free up his minutes and make sure he doesnt help them get meaningless wins that don't help develop players. It's one thing if you win games with guys who have a future with the team but to win them with guys who are goners is useless.

The rumors of Green-to-Memphis are getting louder, though I've not heard Adams' name come up. Marc Stein is reporting Prince's expiring and a future first-round pick is the rumored package. Memphis owes the Cavs Denver a pick (protected #1-5, #15-30 in 2015-16, top 5 in 2017-18, unprotected in 2019), so I'm not sure when would be the earliest pick that Memphis could offer. Anyone seen any analysis on that question?

I believe they can structure it so it's not set in stone. So they can acquire the first pick available after that one is conveyed... Unless it's a highly protected first I don't know why Danny wouldn't do that.
Wright is on his way to the Suns but no idea for what.

Actually that pick could turn into a second fairly easily.

The Minnesota pick is heavily, heavily protected (top 13 in 2014, top 12 in 2015-16, else 2016 and 2017 second round picks). Basically, unless the TWolves are a playoff-caliber team next year (which looks super unlikely), it'll be two second-round picks instead, so it's basically like the 76ers pick that the Celtics picked up last year. They're taking back no salary in return, and Wright wasn't getting enough playing time in Boston, but I'm not too overwhelmed about the return.

In some ways the Minnesota second in 2016 if it's the top of the round is more valuable than a late first so that's not bad at all. No guaranteed contracts and similar talent.

Suns receive the Timberwolves 2015 first-round pick. (top 12 protected in 2015 and 2016, or second-round picks in 2016 and 2017) Two high second round picks is a nice return for Wright!

I hope they scout Europe hard the next few years. Draft and stash guys with all these seconds.

Anyone seen any analysis on that question? Just speculation on my part. Reports are that Memphis has offered Prince and a first but the teams are still talking. So I would assume Danny is trying to get a little bit more out of Memphis and Adams and Stokes are two young player I really like but have no role on Memphis team currently.

Adrian Wojnarowski@WojYahooNBA · 5 mins5 minutes ago Boston is nearing an agreement to send Jeff Green to Memphis for Tayshaun Prince and a first-round pick, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
We'll see what the protections are, but I hope it's a weakly protected future pick. Memphis has an aging core and a meh market, so a pick like that could be like the Nets picks in a few years.

I think a chance at a first or two high seconds was about the max you could get for him pick wise. Were you hoping for a young player with upside?

I hope they scout Europe hard the next few years. Draft and stash guys with all these seconds. Yeah, they just don't have the projected roster space to actually draft more than a couple guys each year. All those second-round picks could still be useful trade assets even for a rebuilding team (for instance, they could help you move Nelson's $3.5m salary next year, assuming he picks up his player option), but at some point the extra picks get a little excessive.

Yea I'd take a pick in 2021 with no protection before I'd take a heavily protected one in the near future... It at the very least better not turn into seconds at some point...
Prince is getting cut right? Young is getting minutes by dumping Green not Prince, right? Right? Someone promise me Prince won't suit up.

Love what Danny is doing. Let the young guys play and hope you can get a top 5 pick. Now can we please trade Bass, he needs to go!

Prince should not get any playing time. Don't think he gets cut/bought out till after trade deadline, his expiring deal could be used in another trade.

I don't think it's a bad return, I just don't think it's an especially good one, either. Wright was a really useful role player for Dallas, and there's aren't a lot of useful big men on the trade market (see what Denver got for Mozgov).

Fair point, I do like Mozgov more then Wright, but its very close. I just really think Cleveland way overpaid because their coach had a relationship with Mozgov. Denver got maybe the best deal of the year. Heck they got more for Mozgov then we got for Rondo. That is crazy when you think about it.

With how bad the Knicks and Sixers are there is no way the Celtics are bad enough to compete with them.
Getting a guaranteed top 3 pick is much better than going blind into the lottery, as the C's know.

The latest has Green and New Orleans' Russ Smith going to Memphis; Pondexter going from Memphis to New Orleans and Prince, John Salmons and a 1st from Memphis going to Boston.
Not sure what Salmons adds to the deal and why Boston needs to take him on.
This is also from Wojo btw

Just hopin to get one of those 4 This happens every year and most of these guys will be busts and others will be studs. Cauley-stein could be a great NBA player and the guy I love is Winslow. Winslow could be the best guy out of this draft in 3 years and his floor should be relatively high. He can defend 4 spots like crazy, super athletic and works hard. Shooting needs work but it's not terrible I watch a lot if Duke.
