Moncada is getting scary good. He's like Yasiel Puig 2.0 of a few years ago.

Moncada is getting scary good. He's like Yasiel Puig 2.0 of a few years ago. Minus the groundball addiction and makeup problems.

That second homer is one of the most beautiful pieces of hitting I've seen in a while. Or heard in a while. The ball absolutely exploded off the bat!

Feble's 4 cents: "I'm going to tell you one thing, I've been around this game over 20 years now," Febles said from outside his office at Hadlock Field this week. "I played for 13 years I've been coaching since 2007 and I haven't seen a player with that many tools that he has. That's a guy that could bring a lot to the table. He flies, he's a good base-stealer, big power. It's something you don't see often.
"I haven't seen a player with his type of tools since I don't even remember, I think Carlos Beltran was the last player I saw like him," Febles added. "This is special and that's why I'm a big believer that once he gets to the big leagues, he'll be there for many years to come."
"He's a very special player," Febles added. "Does he need to keep working and clean up a couple things? Absolutely. But to me, he's the kind of guy who will be a superstar in the big leagues if he stays healthy." www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2016/08/yoan_moncada_carlos_beltran.html#incart_2box_sports

Jen McCaffrey @jcmccaffrey 2m2 minutes ago Red Sox GM Mike Hazen was in Portland on Thursday and said Yoan Moncada seems pretty natural at third in early work.

So we all love moncada. He looks great. Where do they give him a chance to play? 2nd looks blocked for now. 3rd? OF? Also when do you think he gets to the bigs?

Interesting... There are no immediate plans for a promotion, but the general manager's presence was noteworthy.
"It's just workouts at this point," Hazen said of Moncada's transition. "It seems pretty natural, he played there as a kid, so you wouldn't expect the transition to be too complicated."
Hazen said the organization won't necessarily need to see Moncada in a game at third in Double-A before a promotion to either Triple-A or the majors. www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2016/08/yoan_moncada_at_third_base_vid.htmlComment: Also interesting that Andy Fox is apparently too busy or too important to take a trip to Portland...

Yeah, I'm not buying that. They're not calling him up to play third unless they're sure he won't embarrass himself.

I think he moves to 3rd base in the off season. Maybe a couple games there this year and full time next year. See him getting called up middle of 2017. However I could see him as the designated pitch runner in September and hopefully the postseason

Seems a lot of people want to trade a gold glove all star centerfielder. Who do you get back in the trade jbj is in? My biggest question is not that he can play another position, but when will he adjust to the pitching at AA,AAA and the bigs. 40% strikeout rate in AA is awful high. Not saying he won't, just saying we may be rushing him here.

He's not striking out 40% of the time.

He could be used in a deal for Sale (three team deal between both Chicago teams) with Swarber going to the White Sox, Sale going to the Red Sox, and JBJ going to the cubs. Or JBJ could be dealt in a deal packaged with Eduardo Rodriguez for Andrew Miller and Danny Salazar. Or JBJ could be dealt for a Lucas Giolito. So many possibilities if the Sox make JBJ available in a trade this off season imo.

He's not striking out 40% of the time. my apologies 33.6% Math was off a little. Still very high. Still denotes an area for need to correct before moving on.

Do they both prove to be jbj of 2 years ago? Leaves a hole next year? Maybe they will both be a mookie.

You're also assuming JBJ has the same year next year too, which there's a possibility that he won't. I'd rather take the chance on Moncada.

You boys need to get off the Sale train. Starting Pitching is a premium. Why would the CWS trade an elite cost controlled Pitcher while they are in a rebuilding mode? They would not, thats why. Leave the Disney World Trades in Disney World

Let's just keep specific trade proposals to the Trade Proposal subforum. It's there for a reason.

I've seen Moncada's splits and they are bad. He is awful vs lefties. Will there ever be a point where he just scrap switch-hitting? IS there a certain length of time and a certain "number" that just highlights he should scrap batting right-handed? I'm not saying "do it" yet- just wondering at what point is it clear he should do it?
