I saw in my cristal ball this morning Porcello having an RBI hit today. I see strange stuff when I have Cristal in the morning too.

Tim Britton ?@timbritton 6 min. Red Sox v. Harang: Betts CF, Pedroia 2B, Sandoval 3B, Ramirez LF, Napoli 1B, Nava RF, Hanigan C, Bogaerts SS, Porcello RHP.

Bogarts after Hanigan - interesting. And Nava gets the nod over Shane, even after the day off? Maybe Farrell will platoon them for much of the year (or the time until Shane is traded).

Ortiz against the lefty, Napoli against the righty... Makes sense. (I guess you can't have an opening day line up without Ortiz) Bogarts after Hanigan - interesting. And Nava gets the nod over Shane, even after the day off? Maybe Farrell will platoon them for much of the year (or the time until Shane is traded). I'd swap them too. Hanigan also did a pretty good job of clearing the 9 hole last game.

Napoli probably plays because of Porcello's groundball tendencies. I hope Nava plays because of platoon advantage and not because Vic is hurt already.

So this is what it means to be the "starting right fielder".

To be fair, I always expected Nava and Holt to get more PAs than they deserve simply because Farrell loves his RLRLR patterns.

Dreadful lineup construction. I've had about enough of Farrell at this point.

At least we're playing the Phillies.

Dreadful lineup construction. I've had about enough of Farrell at this point. I'm actually OK with today's lineup, Panda at the 3 is the only thing I have a problem with. Why Napoli at 1B vs the RHP? Porcello, a GB pitcher, is starting today and we all know that Nap is the much better defender and a capable hitter as well. Nava vs the RHP instead of Shane makes sense as well.

Shane Victorino has no ill effects of crashing into wall Monday #RedSox

Why sit Victorino tonight after day off yesterday? Cold, wet conditions were a factor, according to Farrell #RedSox

Good thing Fenway park almost never has cold, wet conditions.

Tim Britton ?@timbritton 3 min. Steven Wright starts Saturday I'm actually happy to hear this. I have plans that day, and now I won't feel even remotely bad about missing the game.

I understand why some think Ortiz should have been hitting today vs yesterday considering the match-ups.
With that aside, JF probably doesn't want Ortiz playing 1B everyday and if he is going to sit Ortiz the Sox could use another LHB in the lineup. Nava plays a very good right-field and he's very good vs. RHP. I'm sure this has just as much to do with the lineup configuration than figuring VIC needs a day off.

Tim Britton ?@timbritton 3 min. Steven Wright starts Saturday it IS the Wright time!!! Re: Victorino: hoping the cold and wet conditions coincide with RHP on the opposing mound.

It's 2015 and Jeff Francoeur is a starter in a Major league lineup! How's that even possible? I knew it's the Phillies but IT'S JEFF EFFIN' FRANCOEUR!!!!!

Surprised we aren't seeing the shift at all against these lefties. Especially Ruiz.
Edit: and all three of them hit grounder to the right side...
Edit2: finally put the shift on against Howard...another grounder to the right side.

What if Harang actually is good? CSN had an interesting graphic showing how the oSwing% on his Curveball has gone up from 2012-2014. (They called it Chase% rather than oSwing%.) And Harang is, after all, a guy who was worth 5 WAR in his prime.
He also cost only half as much as Masterson... hm...

Well, for someone who is "not a strikeout guy", Porcello does a pretty good job of getting one when he needs it.

Bogaerts swung through a 2-1 89 MPH fastball right down the middle. Not good.
