Need to use these guys to get back on track. Hopefully we can start the road trip off with a series win.

Given Miley's contract, I think he will get every chance to prove himself, and wouldn't likely be taken out of the rotation this year or even until part-way through next year. Only thing that could change that is a) just falling apart completely, or b) if his contract is two-way, then he could be optioned. Does anyone know how that works with younger guys on long-term deals? Do they still get their monies if they are demoted? Do they acquire service time if they are demoted?

When do the Sox start to believe that with his new approach, JBJ might be better than several of the OFers in front of him?

If Hanley plays (i.e. DH) this may not be as big a hit. Even more minimized if Craig is optioned and Castillo or JBJ plays.

We should have heard who is being called up by now. I'm sure he's in Toronto already.

It's Travis Shaw making a guest appearance on the 25-man roster.

He'll likely be sent back down tomorrow, but hey, I doubt he cares. Enjoy it, Travis! (and get a hit or three while you're up so you can tell everyone you did).

@jmastrodonato: Original Red Sox lineup tonight: Betts CF, Pedey 2B, Pablo 3B, Nap DH, Nava RF, Craig LF, Swihart C, Bogaerts SS, Shaw 1B, Miley P
Always love seeing someone we follow all the way through the system get the call. Even better to see him in the starting lineup. I remember seeing Cecchini, Diaz, and Shaw dominate in Connecticut a couple years back for the first time. Best of luck to Travis Shaw tonight.

Also something they must've considered - Shaw faced Sanchez a few times in the Eastern League last year.
Edit: WOW, in four games, split between AA and AAA, here's Shaw's line against Sanchez last year: 6 for 14, 2 2b, 2 HR, 4 BB, 0 K; .429/.556/1.000 Ugh, really wrong, see below.

At least instead of trying to figure out how filthy MLB stuff is he'll be thinking, "Sanchez!? I own this punk!"

When his contract is up, does he have arbitration years left?

I just added his numbers from the games Sanchez pitched instead of checking which at-bats came against Sanchez. Sanchez, in his two starts against Portland was relieved during the first inning once and after three innings the other time, and pitched in relief in both appearances against the PawSox in one-inning stints. So the line is a far less exciting 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Point still sort of stands, at least.

When his contract is up, does he have arbitration years left? Yep. He'd be Arb eligible. (a bit over 3 years coming into 2015) -He's not a MLB free agent until 6 years service. -He wouldn't have a contract. -He wouldn't be MLB minimum. Which leaves one alternative.
