I could honestly see all of the following gone from the roster in 2016, Victorino, Napoli, Ortiz, Craig, Buchholz, Masterson, Ross, Nava. Somebody should give as Swihart a first base glove, they could use him there next year when Vasquez gets back. The way our staffs going we'll have a 2016 thread soon enough. I'd put Hanley at first and seriously consider moving Betts to LF, JBJ in CF and Rusney in RF. Then sign a top SP and trade for one too.

Most of us want Craig to be gone, but those who are arguing he should be DFA'd don't seem to realize that the Sox owe him $9 million next year and $10 million in 2017. As a result he isn't going to be DFA'd.
The Sox either have to include him in a trade, or send him to the minors.

Alan Craig hopefully just had his last AB for this team. I'm not going to watch another game until he is off of the ML roster.

If I asked you to guess which two Red Sox starters have the highest SwStr% this season, what would you say? I wouldn't care. Give me K/BB any day. Trying to think of any healthy starter in MLB who is in the top 20 of K/BB average spanning the last 3 years who I wouldn't rather have than any of these five starters. Still thinking. If it's a junk stat it's my favorite piece of chocolate, especially with it containing two true outcomes in every bite. I've long found that if a starter is healthy, has at least 400 innings under his belt, and his K/BB is 3.70 or better, then he is almost always a starter I would like on my team.

Napoli at .165, Craig at .135 and Swihart at .095. Bogaerts probably is hitting 8th to break this up.
They should make some changes before the team heads west.

A peak inside Ben Cherrington's brain would probably reveal a little fantasy called "Nick Punto Trade Part Deux" - Hanley, Pablo, Miley and Craig for a couple of prospects and a couple of scrubs.

I don't know where they are getting that, because I see nothing written about Craig continuing to have foot issues. But if true: Sox option Craig to AAA ... he opts for surgery instead ... goes on MLB DL .. continues to accumulate service time ... next spring he has over 5 years service and cannot be optioned. I don't know if that is the scenario we see.

Meanwhile a peek inside John Henry's brain would reveal less of a fantasy called, "Firing Ben Cherrington is an Acceptable Sunk Cost."

Pete Abraham @peteabe Allen Craig didn’t comment when asked if he was involved in any roster moves. Meanwhile, Bradley scratched from Pawtucket lineup. Pete Abraham @peteabe Craig has minor league options. So #RedSox would swap him with Bradley, who has hit .343 in AAA ![](http://i.imgur.com/rQ8bbx6.jpg)

Bradley's numbers are inflated by a .398 BABIP rate this year (with a 50% GB%) but anyone is better than Craig. And, hey, maybe he can bring some of that luck up with him. And maybe Craig can spend 50-100 consecutive PAs getting his timing back.

Who would have thought we would be this excited about a Bradley call up after what we saw last year?

I'd prefer Castillo, but I guess they aren't going to do that until Victorino proves useless as well, or gets hurt again.

Next year he succeeds Ortiz or Napoli, but what happens the rest of this year?
