Looks like De Aza has not arrived yet. Last chance to enhance value Peguero.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Xander Bogaerts was the Red Sox best player over the rest of the season. If I had to pick one guy, it'd be him. I think his power (which wet all know he has) is going to come when the weather warms up and pitchers realize that if they work him away all the time, he's just going to go that way and get singles.

Eduardo Rodriguez' FIP and xFIP are about identical to Buchholz' this year.
FIP/xFIP/SIERA Buchholz - 2.94/3.11/3.15 Rodriguez - 2.91/3.07/??
Funny that their ERAs are 3.82 and 0.61. I doubt ERod can keep his 100% LOB and .118 BABIP for long. Then again, he can slide a long way and still be very good.

Bogaerts is now 6th in MLB among qualified SS in wRC+. And hasn't really hit for any power yet. Just anecdotally it seems like he's squaring up a lot more balls lately. Even when he was hitting .350 or whatever in April it was all smoke and mirrors.

But if both pitch like this for the rest of the year, that's a pretty nice 1-2 punch. May be time to see what Johnson can do soon. He seems a safe bet for league average...and if Porcello solves his HR problem and Miley keeps pitching like he has (excepting that rough stretch)...dare I say it? That looks like a pretty good rotation. C'mon, offense!

One nice notable: Rodriguez shut down a hot offense in Texas and beat a solid team playing very well today. No gimmes on his resume so far.

Sheesh, why can't they get the condensed game of game 1 done before game 2 starts?

Don't think tonights lineup will produce many runs. Hope Porcello can give us a quality start.
