Apparently the Marlins are talking Fernandez with the Dodgers and a few other teams. Link, or source?

I couldn't even pick which offer was the most bizarre/ridiculous on that list. Wow. Cafardo should go write for Bleacher Report.

I often wonder if writers like Cafardo actually think like they write, or if they simply know how to get the lowest common denominator worked up into a frenzy like Donald Trump.

Gotta think the Indians would ask for more. The mainstream media writers definitely don't understand Carrasco's value because they rely on ERA way too much and he's one of the most unlucky pitchers in baseball.

I believe the common denominator in many of these trade proposals is how the FO values JBJ....You pretty much know what your getting from Miley.....JBJ could swing in many directions as far as value to the RS & other teams. IMO I would trade high on him if we could get a #2....He could improve over time, or he could regress as well.....Still see him as a Mike Cameron type.

“@jonheymancbs: Red sox have had some contact on old friend Mike Napoli. Mariners, Indians, rangers, maybe pirates, others.”

To me, this means they are exploring trading Hanley. Or Panda, with Hanley to 3B I think that's about the last thing that will ever happen. If Hanley can't play 1B, he'll be even worse at 3B.

Eh, public pronouncements can be driven by a need to put disinformation out there as much as anything. They couldn't exactly say he was moving to 3B, with Sandoval already there, so they say 1B, while they try to move Sandoval.

I'm really looking forward to how Pablo is in the BSOHL in February or so.

I'd love having Votto (and Freeman, but I think the asking price would be way too high), but Votto's said he won't waive his no trade clause. Think that'd change if he could be traded here? You'd think he'd want to win, and he seems like his hitter's profile would age gracefully.

The Napoli news is no news. Most teams have contact with free agents. Can't wait for Hanley to have a nice year. I don't know why people wouldn't want him at 10m per year, which is basically what you need to pay him to play elsewhere. The fact that this offense was good last year without him, makes me salivate at the prospect of sticking him into this lineup in the 5 spot.
Betts (r) Pedey(r) Xander(r) Ortiz(l) Hanley(r) Pablo(s) Castillo (r) Swithart(s) Bradley(l)
Yes please

You'd think he'd want to win, and he seems like his hitter's profile would age gracefully. I think it would change if Votto were traded literally anywhere. There's no way he really wants to waste his career there on a bad team. What was he supposed to say to the media? That he'd love to waive his NTC at a point in time where there was no trade remotely imminent? If he were traded to Boston, I'd bet my entire bank account he waived his no trade. I agree with you that id love him and he'd age well comparatively. Also that contract is big and goes until he is 40, but I expect by 2020, 20M contracts won't be a big deal at all anymore. That's becoming evident in the pitching market, and I think it would be smart to make a move before people start realizing that Votto's contract isn't the albatross deal it seemed like it could be. The only problem is that his trade value is very hard to predict and I wouldn't want to overpay again in trade.

I completely agree, especially when we're a team whose hitting philosophy actually appreciates walks and getting on base. I definitely hope he'd welcome Boston.

Having a 5-7 WAR player who's value is almost entirely offensive would be so awesome too. So much fun to watch Votto as a hitter IMO. The most cerebral hitter of the decade.
Really nothing there but speculation though, so gotta stop thinking about this for now haha.
