I know there is still a to of games to play but this is still an important series with E-Rod going . I hope he isn't too juiced to go after his old team.

A thought:
If the Red Sox go 53-51 the rest of the way, they'll win 90 games. There is a very strong chance that's enough to make the playoffs.
My god the AL sucks this year...
I'm a dumbass.

If they go 63-41 the rest of the way, now that'd be a bit more impressive and much more deserving of a playoff spot.

Happy Eduardo Rodriguez day.
Anyways Sox have had pretty good success against Gonzalez, but he was bailed out by a couple bad Porcello starts. Hanley had HR's in both of the games Gonzalez started, lets see if he can make it a trifecta.
Question for ppl, where do you want to see Bogaerts in the line up? Honestly think they should considering putting him in the 2 hole.
My ideal line up
Pedroia Bogaerts Ortiz Ramirez Sandoval Betts Napoli Swihart Castillo
Stick with Ortiz for now but id be close to moving him down as well.

Well, I certainly don't want Betts hitting between Sandofval and Napoli. Problem is, with Betts and Nap not really hitting, the bottom of our order has become a black hole no matter how you set it up.

^why? is it worse then hitting Ortiz, Sandoval, Nap in the middle of our order?
I dont really care who is hitting between who, just want the guys who are hitting to get as many AB's as they can. I dont like putting Bogey in the bottom of the order because nobody else is hitting there. Napoli is clearly rattled by this new strike zone and i cant keep sitting by watching him kill rally after rally. Say what you will about RISP but Bogaerts has been coming through when it counts if you really want to cash in on that he needs to be higher up in the order.

8 for his last 39 with 13 k's in his last 12 games and thats with the flukey infield hits in the Twins blow up game. Dont get me wrong Napoli was en fuego for that 8 game stretch, but hes come right back down to earth.
You know who is hitting? Xander Bogaerts, is 14 for 29 in his last 8 good enough to move him out of the bottom of the order for a team that is in desperate need of offense? Sure is.

I'm fine with moving Bogaerts up, but it should not come at the expense of Napoli moving down. Even in that twelve game stretch, he has a .214/.340/.357 (99 wRC+) line, which ranks fourth on the team over that stretch (ahead of Betts' 78 wRC+). I'd be fine with: Pedroia Bogaerts Ortiz Ramirez Napoli Sandoval Betts Castillo Swihart

Benintendi isn't in your ideal lineups? Bust city
In all seriousness, what do you guys think is up with Mookie? Recently, he hasn't been making much if any hard contact. Pitchers are pitching him away and now it looks (to my non-scouting eye) that even when they come into his wheelhouse he is missing it.

Would love to get a scouts take on Bogaerts. I'm not trying to knock his performance, but he is proving to be a different player than we saw in the minors. His improved defense is very encouraging, but he seems now to be more like a singles hitter who won't take many walks. In 2013 we saw a potential 25+ HR bat with an above average approach. Is he doing something different that would change his projection, or is he still in the process of developing his power and approach? My theory is that he has change over the past two years to a less desirable, but still very productive profile. He's cut down on his strikeouts, but also on his walks and doesn't seem to drive the ball with backspin as much as he use to. I'm no scout so I'd love some input here.
To put my two cents in on the lineup discussion, I'd bat Bogaerts lead off and move Pede back to 2nd, assuming that Pedroia's excellent stats recently as a lead off hitter are not dependent on what spot he is hitting in the lineup.

We all agree that is the only thing that matters when constructing a lineup.

Bogaerts 2nd and letting Rusney attempt to continue his momentum would have been my preference to start the game.

Not sure why I am wasting the key strokes? Not saying anything that hasn't been said by many before me, but... Farrell's lineups are more frustrating to me than any other manager I can remember. Valentine doesn't count in my world because he was clearly incompetent. Farrell is not, but after the 7 run inning last game Castillo has to be in the lineup.

It's not really that bad of a lineup. The two issues, for me, are Holt batting second and Bogaerts hitting seventh. Switch those two guys, and it's just about the lineup I would write out.

I think Betts belong in #9, he fits the profile. But at least Swihart has some speed.

Farrell seems to play the batter vs pitcher thing alot(going by comments after the Nelson Cruz fiasco), so Bogaerts(1 for 10 against Gonzalez) hitting sense would make sense but Nap hasnt had success against him and Mookie has in a limited sample size so i guess you can throw that out.
But yes im all for a Bogaerts/Holt switch.
