No. No (you're not wrong). So much for my idea of starting a "The Knights who say Rei" thread. Bring me some shrubbery!! I wish they would show that flick every week.

Well, if the surname is Portuguese as it seems to me (Rei means king and there's decent number of Portuguese in the area he was born), then I'm afraid he is wrong. It would be more like ray, but with a rolling R, kind of like how a Scottish would say it. It's pronounced Rye. It was reported when he was drafted. I saw those reports, but then again Victorino, Teixeira, Lopes, Machado and many others are also mispronounced, so there's that. Only Gomes was dead on, from what I can remember.

Maybe we can draft a Ham and a Cheese........ Ham and Cheese on Rei should definitely be the thread title. Or something similar. If it's not The Catcher in the Rei you're all a bunch of phonies. /s

Not to be that guy, but should all of those greater than signs be less than signs?

I think I do that every year, and I think you correct me every year.

And I think after I do so every year, I realize it was pretty obvious and that I should have just changed it myself. My bad.

Looks like Nick Hamilton got $100K That's HUGE. We had him at $200k/$250k. Nice savings to be distributed (hopefully).

Do y'all think these 11+ round guys get a day one $100k offer from the Sox with a "can't offer more till we know more" note attached? And he took it so he could get started? Obviously they'd have to word it better, but I wonder if they just throw that out there in case one of the expected tougher signs just wants to get on the field right away.

For 11th-15th round guys, they probably had discussions about bonus demands on the night before Day 3 & came to contingent agreements before being drafted. Just my guess.

It's pronounced Rye. It was reported when he was drafted. I saw those reports, but then again Victorino, Teixeira, Lopes, Machado and many others are also mispronounced, so there's that. Only Gomes was dead on, from what I can remember. Souza is also badly mispronounced, perhaps the most extreme example.

I'm sorry. I think you've confused www.soxprospects.com with www.google.com. They are the two most useful sites on the internet, so I do understand the error. If you prefer my non-snarky answers: A) July 17, and B) yeah, probably pretty soon. I'd guess within 10 days or so.

No prob. And don't take the jokes too personally. Just trying to add some levity, lest tonight's baseball proceedings have anyone in a down mood.

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas outfielder Andrew Benintendi won the Golden Spikes Award on Tuesday, completing a sweep of college baseball's most prestigious awards as national player of the year. Benitendi was presented the award during a ceremony in Los Angeles. The Golden Spikes is one of two major national player of the year awards alongside the Dick Howser Trophy, with which Benintendi was presented on June 13 at the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. "I am very proud to be the recipient of the 2015 Golden Spikes Award," Benintendi said in a statement to WholeHogSports.com. "If it were not for my coaches, trainers, teammates and parents this would not be possible. I am grateful and humbled to join the long list of outstanding players who have received this award and would like to thank USA Baseball for this honor." Benintendi is the first Arkansas player to win either of the awards and is the 17th player to win both in the same season. m.nwaonline.com/news/2015/jun/23/benintendi-wins-golden-spikes-award/

I am anxious to see how Benitendi hits with woden bats but he should still be a solid hitter ,runner and defender even if he doesn't hit for the power he had in college.

FWIW, the club signed Michael Chavis, Jake Cosart, Kevin McAvoy, Josh Ockimey, Cole Sturgeon, and Tyler Hill on this day last year.
