So in regards to Andrew Benintendi getting signed, is it a matter of whether the Sox will meet his asking price or are there any other issues?

So in regards to Andrew Benintendi getting signed, is it a matter of whether the Sox will meet his asking price or are there any other issues? Would think they had a deal in place with Benintendi prior to the draft and it would have more to do with keeping whatever potential savings exist from the draft slot secret while negotiating with other guys like a Brakeman, for one example. Not showing their cards until its time to call.

I doubt that they had a hard number in place before the draft, but I'm sure that they have a ballpark idea. There's probably some negotiating still going on with the details and the dollar number. That's the advantage of the slot, both sides have a ballpark to start from.

Reed looks like he was underrated last year too. Let's hope Benintendi rakes like the last few GS winners have to start their pro careers. I really think Zunino should and would be a star if he wasn't so brutally mismanaged.

Or we can view it for what it really means, that's he's a great prospect and nothing else. It's not like players that don't win the award have no chance at a great career just like winners aren't guaranteed HOFers. McAdam's just trying to give us hope for the future. Growing up in New England, sometimes that all you have.

But there have been a whole lot of championships brought back to Boston in the last 15 years.

I was told Andrew Benintendi was at Fenway Park yesterday, so I think we can expect his signing any day now.

I really like Benintendi. I hope he is good enough to move up quickly to have him in debate as our number one prospect this time next year.

It's kind of intersting that the Sox draft a guy that is from theCincinnati area on the 40th anniversary of the 1975 World Series.I guess there are some comparision of Benitendi to Jacoby Ellsbury. That is a pretty high assessment to give a player.Time will tell if he ever lives up to that. I just hope he stays on the field more than Ells did while playing for the Sox and keeping him away from Scott Boras would be nice too.I hear his teamate Tyler Spoon is also quite a player so if they both sign as expected, the games in Lowell should be lots of fun to watch.

Rob Bradford @bradfo 4m4 minutes ago Breaking: Torey Lovullo just told the Butch and Bradfo Show that his son, Nick, won't be signing with Red Sox and head back to Holy Cross

Benintendi and Rei are in Lowell, per Bradford. Signings not official yet though.

Everything slowed down fast. I wonder what's up with Poyner the gators season is over. Plus Spoon season 's over.
So those two plus Washington and Watt are close to probably being announced.

Anyone have grades for Rei's bat? 50/50 potential hit/power or what something I would think.

According to the draft history page here, Washington signed for less than 100K. Is that correct?
