Everything slowed down fast. I wonder what's up with Poyner the gators season is over. Plus Spoon season 's over. So those two plus Washington and Watt are close to probably being announced. Everyone's season is over. Poyner and Spoon's season lasted longer than others and now they could sign.

Does the whole "going to class" thing still apply? If so, Danny Reyes apparently had his first day of class today. Not that anyone thought he'd sign, but that'd put the final kabosh on it.

Summer school is in full swing. If he is just taking some kind of prep/make-up course like pre-Algebra, he may still be considering options.

Kyri Washington got $100k even. What a steal for the 681st pick for a BA#149/PG#173 prospect.

Kind of always fascinated by scouting. For any sport. It is remarkable to me how much work goes into it and yet so often the evaluations are off. Sort of like being a weatherman maybe?
Anyway, just looking at the college careers of Tate Matheny and Tyler Spoon. Obvious difference is RS think Matheny can stick in CF whereas Spoon is a corner OF. However, just looking at their college careers would anyone be surprised if Spoon had the better career? Appears to me he did in college and against much tougher competition.
So wonder why the scouting says Matheny is SO MUCH the better prospect?

Well All the teams had 34 chances to draft Tyler Spoon so there must have been others that were more worthy of their interest.I can't see all the teams in baseball being wrong

Interesting how the Sox play the signing game. I keep hoping there will be a "real" sighting of the rare "Beni" bird. Maybe it all comes down to their hopefulness of signing someone like Brakeman and then announcing the signings of Rei and Beni.

I can tell you that Benintendi has joined the Spinners in Burlington. His signing should be finalized any time now.

But, point taken.

Hmmmph. That puts a damper in some of the ones on the wishlist. Glad it's done though.

That stings a little bit. I was hoping we could save a couple hundred K on this slot. But he had some leverage.

I ws sort of scratching my head about why lots of folks thought he was going for something under slot. Now that it's done we aren't going to have any significant Cap relief other than the 3 senior signs, and that money has already been eaten up. The real question is, are the potential overslots after round 10 especially difficult to swallow losing from this year's draft class?

Well, by my calculations, assuming Rei gets full slot and Noviello gets no more than $100,000 (seems reasonable based on Washington and Hamilton only getting $100k). They could allocate $217,990 to Valention and $250,000 to Brakeman. Not sure that gets it done, but they do have those funds. Otherwise, they will have to pick one of those two overslot guys to sign. Or maybe sign one and use the little bit remaining to sweeten the pot for some other draftee. Not sure who else is realistic that would require (and might be worth) more than $100k? Maybe Mangum or Nelson? Maybe Jenco, but he seems unlikely to sign for a reasonable number.

I was so pumped because they were getting these kids for 100k and under but there are getting no help from the top ten leverage signs. Who knows what the kid from Ohio State wants. I should of known every award the kid got you could see more dollar signs. I feel the little delay was them going back and forth and bottom line he had the leverage. Bregman signed for six million.

Brakeman and I'll be happy Nomar this is the kid if you could only get one with the extra money? If not him who would be your second pick that kid Jenco is interesting. Valentin is second generation. Baseball America predicted this. I was surprised they hit it on the head.

I'm coming out with about 250k if both Rei and Lakins get slot.
