Some of the Ground Rules are applied loosely in here, as we understand that there is a tendency to want to react (or overreact) to every play of a Sox game with one line reactionary posts. Those posts are okay in the Red Sox Series threads to a point - we certainly appreciate the passion. Just try not to overdo it, and try to maintain some semblance of reason. Rooting for a Sandoval-Hanley collision (Ellsbury-Beltre style) so I could enjoy not seeing them playing the field for a long period of time.

So to be clear:
- Toronto is the team Ben thought he built. - Boston is what people were saying Tampa would after they lost 3 starters in early April, a no-hit, no pitch team. - Tampa's the scrappy overachievers that we all wish our teams would be. - Baltimore sucks and yet they just swept Boston.
I don't acknowledge any other teams' existence so I think that covers everyone.

LOL, and the team that shall not be named is leading the division with old guys, pitchers with broken bodies ,and no farm system. I passed out from the 2013 victory party and woke up in Red Sox Nation Hell.

Do you enjoy watching overpaid mediocre baseball players performing? You wished injury upon players on your own team, nevermind other human beings in general. That's kind of messed up.

Do you enjoy watching overpaid mediocre baseball players performing? It's not ideal but I'm adjusted to it.

I root for the laundry and those guys have been so terrible that taking them out is an addition by substraction. Also, it's not like I'm rooting for a life threatning injury: I'm OK with torn ACL, cracked ribs, stuff that gets them away from my sight... What is frustrating to me is that those guys have been labeled as injury prone but they're turning into some kind of iron men this year so we could watch them fail in all the aspects of the game.

Wouldn't it make a little bit more sense to root for them to suddenly start fielding and hitting like Pablo Sanodval and Hanley Ramirez instead of lame-assed imposters?

Sox should try this whole win streak thing, maybe score a couple runs and see what happens.

Usually like radio's posts, but even sarcasm font wouldn't help. Great point about wishing them to perform to norms. April's Hanley and continued improvement in LF comfort and performance would drive the team's offense. A stronger 3B defense might have won a few games and belped the rotation gain some swagger.

On the two radio stations this morning they both feel Farrell took a huge hit with the whole Miley blow up. They feel he was showed up in front of the whole team. John Dennis felt Chili Davis was too busy drinking his water to step in.
Regarding the lineup I would go with Petey,Holt,Xman, and Hanley my top four. They are doing the best and I want them to get the most at bats. I look forward the E-Rod's start.

I am so looking forward to seeing how Eduardo Rodriguez fares against a hot lineup the Blue Jays have.

Do you enjoy watching overpaid mediocre baseball players performing? I love the playing of the game of baseball. When I can watch it I look at all the little things that go on that make it such a complex game. I am happier when the Sox win, but as long as there is another game coming I'm not despondent when they lose. And I probably started following the Sox long before you were born when the team truly was mediocre, year after year, and with management that made the current gang look like geniuses.

Given your Red Sox fan veteran status - I'm assuming going back to the dark days before the Impossible Dream - then I'm really, really glad that you've got to enjoy 3 Championships. If a person is 30 years old, they've probably started following the Sox sometime around 1995 or so meaning that you waited all of 9 years to see them win in it all, and are pretty used to the idea of Sox as Champions, but if you've followed the team for a long time (for me I go back to 1980 when it comes to following the Sox), and you witnessed 1986 Games 6 and 7 (not to mention 1978, Game 7 1975, etc, then I think perhaps you appreciate the Championships in a different sort of way.

there was a sadness in the TV room when the inevitable happened in 1967. Something about Gibson.

Ted Williams was still playing for the Sox when I started following them in the later 1950s. I remember his last several years, including his .388 season. I read his book and became a Red Sox fan, helped by my next door neighbor who was a quasi-father to me and was an avid Yankee fan. His father had been a congressman and the two of them were guests in the locker room of the 1927 Yankees and they came out with a ball signed by all the players, which my friend still had when I was a kid. We had a great deal of fun listening to Yankee-Red Sox games and arguing baseball. The Yankees were much better but the Sox got their licks now and then. They had some good players, but their pitching usually was pretty bad. P.S. If you really want to know what it was like to be a lifetime Red Sox fan in Boston in the years before a WS victory, there is a great book I highly recommend, by the late great mystery writer, George V. Higgins: "The Progress of the Seasons: Forty Years of Baseball in Our Town," published in 1989 by Henry Holt. It is my all-time favorite baseball book. He was an incredibly gifted writer.

Hopefully Mookie and Ortiz keep driving the ball. Sucks to get swept, but that was good to see still yesterday.
