Listening on the radio broadcast to descriptions of JBJ's fielding, it sounds like he truly is a generational phenom fielder. It make me wonder what would happen if they just put him in CF and forgot about his hitting. I know they tried that last year but he is somewhat better now. Is his D so good that it would justify him not hitting much above .200, assuming he could do that? The assumption here is that Betts moves to left and another good hitter is in RF. An alternative is to put JBJ in RF but that seems like a bit of a waste and there it is harder to justify his lack of hitting. I'd be tempted to do that. As I said in another post, I think I'd rather have a black hole at the back of lineup, spend on a top of the rotation starter, and wait on Margot.

Why is Miley the only guy on this team who can consistently throw to first?

JBJ so far has shown that he's a terrible hitter at the major league level, and has shown nothing to the contrary this year. Leaving him in CF and "forgetting" about his offense would be a horrible idea. Keep Mookie in CF, play Rusney in RF, and keep Hanley in LF. He's not good, but he's improved a bit.

Owens has his Changeup working today, especially after striking out Victor Martinez who rarely strikeouts. Nasty

Tigers color commentator remarks that Owens slows down his delivery on the curveball, which might tip the hitters off.

Further proof that RBIs are useless: JBJ got one by standing up there with the bat on his shoulder for five pitches.
Also, this has been such a BS inning.

Tigers color commentator remarks that Owens slows down his delivery on the curveball, which might tip the hitters off. His curveball is also one of these loopy ones with a big hump. Hitters can pick it up easily, and he doesn't really throw it for strikes often enough to get guys to chase. I was pleased by his featuring of his slider more often this year, and it looked good in his first start-- I hope he focuses on that pitch rather than his curveball.

Like to see Owens do what too few of the starters have done this year. Have a quick inning after the team got them some runs. Get Verlander back out there fast.

He is lost. It's the same issue he has had since he was drafted but Farrell is supposed to fix it after 1 start? I'm sick of Farrell, but let's stick with the legitimate criticism. Plenty to choose from.

Our manager has been a pitching coach since 1997..... and to add Rodriguez still has that problem as well, these issues shouldn't even exist after so many starts for Eduardo.

Owens seems to be struggling with everything outside and his off speed stuff isn't even close ... that will lead to them sitting on 89 stuff and a heartbreak if it doesn't change soon.

You really think it's that easy to fix a delivery flaw?

The manager and pitching coach know erod is tipping. I bet they know Owens is tipping. Bert Behomebyeleven, tipped his curveball his whole career. Many coaches tried to fix it and couldn't. His was so good it didn't matter. His tip ,by the way ,was sticking his tongue out.

So he gets by Kinsler, he can say he really stepped up after a mental error on his part. That got to help him.

JBJ is at least 10 times better than Mookie in CF and Mookie is good.
