This game won't be close for long...I hate our bullpen so much.

10 K, 1 BB for Owens. I'll take it considering his potential problems in the arsenal. Not overly worried about the HR's. First two were just awful changeups middle-in

I think it's fair to say that most days in which Owens records a 10/1 K/BB ratio will turn out far better than this one. Had a FIP for the game of 6.78 and an xFIP of 1.70.

He was probably out, but shouldn't the umps pretend to review the play before making a decision?
Lazy morons.

I think it's fair to say that most days in which Owens records a 10/1 K/BB ratio will turn out far better than this one. In fact, he's the 4th pitcher in MLB history to fan 10 or more and walk 1 or fewer in 6 innings or less, while giving up 7 ER or more. Tanana, Mussina, and (this June) Syndergaard. Guys who did it in 7 IP: Schilling (twice) and Lieber. Rookie who have had a 6 x x x 1 10 line: Kerry Wood, Brett Anderson, Mike Fiers, Julio Therean, Shane Greene. The list of all guys who ever had that line is actually more impressive. The interesting list, I think, would be guys who were ever top 100 prospects who ever had as good a K/BB game. I think I can create that pretty quickly.

Other BA Top 50 Prospects who had a 6 x x x 1 10 line at some point in their careers (rookies in bold): Andy Pettitte, Clayton Kershaw and Roy Oswalt, twice each. Barry Zito, Brett Anderson, Chris Archer, Cole Hamels, Felix Hernandez, Jon Lester, Julio Teheran, Justin Verlander, Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Pedro Martinez, Scott Kazmir, Stephen Strasburg, Tim Redding, Yovani Gallardo, and Yusmeiro Petit. Guys ranked 51-100: Johan Santana (who would have been top 50 if he hadn't been taken in the Rule 5, of course), Kevin Slowey and Max Scherzer (twice); Jeremy Guthrie, John Danks, Jon Niese, Josh Johnson, Randy Wolf, Ted Lilly, Tyler Chatwood, and Ubaldo Jimenez.

Let's see if Rusney is clutch.

I can understand leaning on the aggressive side in that situation, but still, how the hell do you send Ortiz there? He had zero chance of scoring unless the ball was airmailed over the catchers head.

We have to get rid of a few coaches it seems.

It's just mind boggling that an MLB coach even considers that send. Ortiz was still five feet from touching third when Seth Smith had the ball in his glove.

Why wasn't D'Aza running for Papi — sick or something?

It's hard to hate a 3rd base coach, but Butterfield is just such a loser.

If only there was a WAR for third base coaches. Who's hurting the team more - Butterfield, Hanley, or Panda?

3b coach messed up again, but win or lose, this is the best series of the year.

I can't understand it. He's probably the worst third base coach ever. Not being dramatic, but because no third base coach should have as much impact on the game as Butterfield does.

Well, he's supposedly an excellent infield instructor. And he's got a cool nickname — Butter. So he can't be the worst of all- time.

Since Butter loves coming to the park at 3:30 AM to do his prep work, maybe he can block off 30 minutes to study how to send/hold runners. Doesn't seem like that's currently part of the curriculum.
