Who's going to get to .300 first: JBJ or Swihart? Or Mookie?

Mookie. Digging that he is going the other way now even with some inside pitches. He is going to hit for average extremely well with that approach. Been waiting for it all year. Love that he takes the ball out of the park with inside pitches also but he was getting very predictable.

Mookie has an outside shot at 70 XBH this season (he's at 55). Here's the list of Red Sox who have achieved that season mark at <= 22 years old.
Ted Williams (3 times, age 20-22)

He was working outside pitches to the opposite field last year. He's still young - and enthusiastic - so he gets a bit pull-happy at times and gets himself out. You can watch the wheels cranking as he walks away from the plate after trying to jerk a pitch he shouldn't have. But in my estimation, he's already got that skill when he IDs the pitches he wants to try to launch to right-center or down the line. He'll figure that out and the pitchers will be all the worse for it.

By far favorite moment of the game: Betts and Bradley jumping and mobbing Bogaerts after he safely slid into home.

By far favorite moment of the game: Betts and Bradley jumping and mobbing Bogaerts after he safely slid into home. This! Also Eduardo congratulating him in the dugout brought a smile to my face. The new generation, a.k.a "The building block of the next great Red Sox team", is taking over so let's enjoy the ride!

Congrats to Miley on pitching a very nice game.
This team is so much more enjoyable to watch now than in May or June.

He'll figure that out and the pitchers will be all the worse for it. I assume this refers to Mookie but I can't say for sure, as it doesn't quote any other post. When Mookie came up and impressed last year, I thought Craig Biggio might be a reasonable comp in terms of skill set and no, I'm not predicting HOF for Mookie. But he is clearly emerging as a top high-energy player with excellent OBP capability, good power and speed, and superb defense. In 1988 at 22 - Mookie's age this year - Biggio put up a .211/.254/.350 line for an OPS-plus of 75 in only 50 games. He didn't blossom until the next year when he went .257/.336./402, OPS-plus of 114 and 17 steals in 134 games - which is a pretty incredible year for a 23-year-old C. Would it be a shocker if the RS had three young stars, Mookie, JBJ and Xander, on next year's all-star team? Not at all.

Swihart hitting over .350 since June 19, and the hits are usually liner to the opposite field. I love to see him begin elevating those over the wall soon.

Saturday, September 5, 2015 Placed OF Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day DL, retroactive to Aug. 27. Recalled INF Deven Marrero from Pawtucket (IL).
SOX normal roster all season had 11 non-catcher position players and they are back to 11 with Marrero.
