I have to imagine that the luxury tax threshold goes up significantly and penalties reduced next year. The $189 million figure hasn't changed since 2002 and the players' share of overall revenue has fallen from 56% to 38% ( as of 2015). Teams aren't spending anywhere close to as much as what the players are going to want in the next CBA. The next negotiations might be a real dog fight. As I wrote in another thread, MLB Advanced Media is an ATM that spits out wads of million-dollar bills. The key point is that baseball is no longer limited to the local, regional, or even national space. There are fans all over the world and they can sign up for MLB.tv - if they have the Internet. Last I heard, that resource had gone planetary. Moreover, MLB no longer has to work with network weenies who cry about the amount they're able to get via advertising revenue. It's just MLB and the consumer at this point, not that they won't eventually work their way into that arena as well. We.. are... talking.... big money. I would guess that MLBAM will want to separate it's non-baseball earnings from the baseball side when they sit down at the table.

Followed by smash by the first baseman - definitely not good - followed by a single to right - terrible. Hopefully DD is looking for a closer because they will need one if they hope to contend. You want them to trade for another closer? lol For the most part, my post was out of frustration with Kimbrel's performance. However, I don't have much confidence that Kimbrel can be the shut down closer DD traded for and I do realize it's not an option to trade for a closer. As Rosenthal mentioned in his article as well as others on the forum, unless DD is obtaining a top of the line starter, I wouldn't be giving up the top prospects. And top relief help will be at a premium as well, which I wouldn't trade the top guys for either. So, the Sox have to hope they strike lightning in a bottle with obtaining any pitching help without giving up premium talent as well as hoping they can turn around the pitching they do have.

I'm worried Papi hurt his knee.

Correction on the 189 mill since 2002, it was 178 as recently at 2012. but your larger point on the share of the revenue is true.

Those last two batters - Andrus and Wilson - and what he did to them, is why Wright is headed off to the All-Star game.

Steven Wright, true All-Star. And it only required Lars Anderson.

Steven Wright, true All-Star. And it only required Lars Anderson. THAT'S how you shut down the opposition in the next inning after your team has put up a crooked number. I suspect Stephen Wright will be like knuckleballers everywhere -- no matter how well he pitches for how long, there is always going to be apprehension when he is on the mound. The k-ball simply doesn't look like a formidable weapon -- until you have to try to hit it.

So, he just that tosses that knuckleball thing. Can we just have him throw every game and then give Price every 5th day? That should solidify our rotation. We can have lots of bullpen help and more bench players.
It's the new inefficiency.

I'm really discouraged. After this game, we are STILL guaranteed to be no better than 5-27 when we score less than 4 runs. And Wright STILL has to prove he can toss that demonic pitch when it is raining. Really a lost opportunity to show the world we can win a low scoring game in the rain. Gutless. Truely. GUTLESS.

With that hit, Mookie has finally reached .300 for the season. He started pretty slowly, so it's been a long uphill climb.
Now watch him go 0 for his next 10.

I'd love to see Wright taken out of the game here. Honestly there's no reason for him to be in and all he can do is make it interesting.

is there anyone left who still believes that Bradley is an elite defensive CF? Because you haven't been watching games this year if you do

This is way too close for a game that was 11-1. The Rangers can easily score 5 more with their offense.
