I really wish the sox would have kept miley, then again it's easy to say right now since smith needed tj surgery. Looking past that, it would have been a lot better move in my mind to get wade miley instead of pomeranz. In my mind they give you basically same thing and miley cost a lot less than pomeranz. Geesh, if we're going to do the regret thing, how about re-signing Rich Hill by matching the A's offer and promising him the spot in the rotation that instead became the Kelly / Wright battle? (Which I argued for as strongly as possible all winter. I'd say the failure to do so was worse than the Kimbrel trade.) E-Rod's injury would have opened up a spot for Kelly, and his injury would have opened up a spot for Wright. The Wright phenomenon does start a bit later in the season. OTOH, Hill replaces a historically bad performance by various 5th starters, and makes the Pomeranz trade unnecessary. So we'd be something like five games up in the division and we'd still have Espinoza.

Nice hit by Sandy. Terrible terrible base running by Bradley there. ...except it was very good base-running. That shot took about two seconds to hit the wall, Bradley had no idea if it would be caught and no one else in the park did either, and it recoiled into Pederson's throwing hand. That's a recipe for getting thrown out if your not careful. He did exactly what he should have. They had a nice lead, and a chance for more - which they got.

Why is Brentz even on this roster still? Farrell and Dombrowski are just a terrible combo. I'm going to tell you this one time, and then lobby very hard to have you thrown off the board if you don't cut it out. Stop the trolling.

I mean it's completely hypothetical, so there is no way of know how events would have played out. Maybe Wright feels that he was not given a real shot for the fifth starter role in camp? Maybe he gets frustrated and his performance suffers? Maybe Farrell leaves Hill in a game where he is developing blisters and that issue becomes a real concern? Maybe instead of a rotation of Wright, Price, Percello, e-rod, and Pomeranz. The rotation right now is Price, Percello, E-Rod, Buchholz, and Kelly or Owens. Maybe the Red Sox are beliw the Yankees?

Not many managers would bring Wright there for the 9th. Not many managers would beat Farrell in a 7 game series.

Because he went back towards second to tag up and move to third as if it was caught instead of going halfway between second and third where he could score if it fell in and could still get back to second if it was caught. There was one out. If it's caught he is still in scoring position at second, and there is no ability to score on a sac fly.

You and the new set of mods have made this a less enjoyable place to post, with different rules for different people, so I'm leaving for good.

On 9/25/15 Rich hill Pitched a complete game shutout against Baltimore it was a little bit better than Wrights start tonight if you look at the numbers. I for sure thought he was going to be on this team this year. If it wasnt for all the faith in Joe Kelly maybe the Red Sox would have matched anybodys offer on Rich Hill.

Stating that Brentz is terrible over and over isn't trolling, esp seeing that he keeps disappointing with each chance he gets. If this was what is considered trolling, they are going to have to come up with another phrase for what goes on on other websites.

I'm not opposed to the mods working to improve the post quality of this site. Basically ever since the Kimbrel trade a lot of threads are just unreadable.

Not many managers would bring Wright there for the 9th. Not many managers would beat Farrell in a 7 game series. And Wright showed his class by calling Farrell "awesome" for letting him go out for the ninth.(mlb.com recap).

Pomeranz has pitched a few game god almighty. Miley was TRASH!!!!Have you forgotten Miley was/is a major league baseball player, and has thus accomplished considerably more in this fantastic sport than (likely) anyone on this board?
I am genuinely curious: by what measure do YOU get to call HIM TRASH?

What game would these managers be playing for 7 games? Handball, whiffle ball, Euchre?

I clearly missed a good one last night. Congrats to Wright on his first shutout.

I clearly missed a good one last night. Congrats to Wright on his first shutout. Had them off balance and barely making any solid contact all night and complemented by good offense/timely hitting. Everything went right (or Wright) for us.

I hadn't noticed this yesterday, but no PB by Leon. Not even a WP.

Brilliant performance by this season's true ace. Wright has been a true horse for us, and he gave the pen another needed rest. Kudos to Sandy Leon, too.

Really want to see EROD keep the ball rolling in the right direction. Great start last night by Wright ,that was fun to watch!

A lot of managers wouldn't bring Wright out there. He was over 100 pitches and just had a guy reach the third in the previous inning and the lead was huge so maybe there was no need for him to come back to close it. If you honestly think it was a given he would return for that inning well I'm not sure what to tell you.

There are a lot of posters here worse than wcp. He can get repetitive at times but when he has been proven wrong he is ready to admit it (i.e. Wright/knuckleballers). That's far better than I can say for several posters who constantly post the same nonsense.

What a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch last night (I should have streamed the Scully feed - Lyons just annoys me, and seems to bring out the worst in O'Brien too). Wright was an efficient master, and Mookie - and Leon! - worked their magic with the bats. Mookie and Shaw's home runs were laser beams.
I've watched or listened to nearly every game this year....what a ride it has been (and continues to be).
