Bogaerts could hit .400 and still come away a disappointment.

Part of DD's problem is that he inherited a 3B that makes almost 20 million (1/9 of the team salary output) and that most likely made him shop at the bargain bin and hope that Panda would rebound. Let's assess the current 3B problem correctly, it is on Ben Cherington (although FA misses are excusable)
Also, people can rue the loss of Shaw, but I read many posts last year by people ready to buy his ticket out of town. That Thornburg is hurt is unfortunate, but current bullpen configuration has proven that we definitely needed help, so calling it a mistake is a bit disingenuous.

With an offense already in retrograde, we now have a re-injured Hanley. For 3 1/2 months he couldn't play the field because his shoulder hurt. One game in and his right shoulder is bad enough to keep him out the lineup a number of games. We might not care if he is the permanent DH...except that the impairment is obviously significant.... and perhaps performance compromising at the plate. With the season ending injuries to Wright and Hernandez, the, at present, mystery of Thornburg, Price and Holt, the 'whenever, return of Smith,.....
...it appears the Fates are agin' us.
I anticipate Hanley making friends with a scalpel.

Is there any way of knowing whether this team is putting up more zero's than what would be expected, or is normal? Anecdotally, it seems like we score multiple runs (above 3, say) and there are a bunch of innings we don't score any. It seems an unusually high imbalance.
Mookie to the rescue.

Sale has 7 K's in 3 innings. He's going for 22 K's this game.

Sale has the lead now. Its his job to keep this a one run game and hand it over to Kimbrel at least.

What the hell was Benintendi doing there? You have to avoid the tag by slowing down or stopping on the way to 2nd base.

Wow. I didnt think Sale would miss his target that badly on an 0-2 pitch. Thst fastball was 98mph the fastest he threw all day. He didnt care where it landed just wanted to blow it by him. Pretty irresponsible.

Every time JBJ is slumping, he forgets to go the other way when they're pounding him outside. Maybe that double gets him going.

This umpire is calling those high fastballs all day forcing everyone to swing at them. I believe thats the Reason for Kiermairer and Marreros big hits.

Pretty irresponsible. If you watch him pitch, that's pretty common. His stuff is so good it rarely matters. If you want him nibbling at corners all game, his walk rate and pitch count would go up. I don't think you can get him to pitch better than he is. That was a 98 mph fastball at the very top of the strike zone and the guy with a sub .600 ops did a great job nailing it. It must suck watching baseball and expecting perfection all the time.

Marrero pimped the $$$$ out of that double lol 106 mph, 405 feet Sucks he didn't get a HR because I bet he doesn't hit balls more than 400 feet that often.
