No manager is going to fix this impotent offense. We are just going to b*** and moan when the next manager gets the same results from this team Managers are fired all the time for this type of result. Why is Farrell immune to it? Dumbrowski is keeping him as a scape goat. Someone to blame so nobody calls for him to get fired.

I'll blame Henry for that move or lack there of... Manager's job is to get the most out of your Players regardless of talent level. Why hasn't XB shown more power when it is documented that he has pull and gap power? Why is a rookie batting cleanup while in a 0 for 15 slump? There is zero lineup continuity because Farrell continues to shuffle the lineup like a chinese fire drill Bullpen has zero depth but you have to find a way to work with what u have. Now we see possible over usage with Kimbrell A Manager makes all the difference when you have the right guy

Managers are fired all the time for this type of result. Why is Farrell immune to it? He isn't. But people are complaining that firing him is the answer to all of our problems. Which it isn't. What does "all of our problems" mean?
HE can be fired and the Red Sox start playing much better, can't that happen? It doesn't fix "all the problems," but maybe it makes the team much better. That's the important thing-- to play better.

Hembree looks noticeably worn out compared to the beginning of the season and with good reason. Pomeranz' IP this season: 6.0, 4.1, 5.1, 6.0, 5.1, 4.0, 3.0. Also that 4.0 was inexplicably followed by Kendrick. Hembree looks exactly like he has looked all season, but finally his ERA matches. His ERA in April was 1.42 backed by a 1.89 FIP. He was pitching better. The larger point is that, while the bullpen has been a problem for this team, it's a bullpen that has had to deal with short outings by Pomeranz, Wright (for two of his five starts), and Kendrick for a couple games. No bullpen will withstand this amount of work and I'm afraid a bunch of them will get burnt out by July, if not sooner. Maybe even Kimbrel will eventually burn out at the his current usage rate.

Has anyone seen Devers live? How do you think his glove could profile in centerfield? He's shaped like Pablo Nope I don't think so. He is not "cut" to be sure and is a bit heavy in the legs..but not Pablo like. I did see him several years ago in the GCL and thought he was thick and lacking quick twitch at 3rd. This spring on TV he appeared to have slimmed down a bit....I will see at least one Portland game this week and report my first hand.

I don't know if the guy is talking about 17 year old Devers, but now he at least looks like a professional athlete of sorts (which he is) and doesn't seem to be carrying all that extra of weight

I never bought into Hembree as a quality reliever. He is thrust into situations where Smith and Thornburg normally would be counted on to handle. The bullpen was smoke and mirror the entire time, and Barnes has used up his pixie dust, so has Hembree.

Leyland is packing his travel bag So did he find a nursing home to his liking?

wrt to Devers: Earlier *this* spring, I had a ST game on in the background, I looked up and there happened to be a brutal misplay at 3B and I thought "Oh Panda . . ." - except his # didn't look right Sure enough, the camera then focused on the baby face of Devers - I quite literally had mistaken him for Sandoval. You can go on pretending he's shaped like Mookie Betts all you want . . .

No, he heard they give out free cartons of cigarettes if you take the tour at RJ Reynolds. He must get pretty nostalgic when taking the tour as well, considering he was there when Pall Mall first launched.

You can go on pretending he's shaped like Mookie Betts all you want . . . Yikes this seems ridiculous. I don't remember anyone ever saying he was remotely like the skinny Betts (that's a ridiculous straw man), and he looks nothing like Sandoval. I say this from seeing him in person last year, and from numerous pics and vids, e.g. nesn.com/2017/05/the-future-looks-bright-for-red-soxs-top-prospect-rafael-devers/ and www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2017/05/rafael_devers_red_sox_top_pros_1.htmlHe's got big hips and legs and a butt; looks a little like Terry Pendleton. Conditioning will be a concern, but he's not remotely like Sandoval.
