Thing is Miami is by far the best place to live among his 3 choices. If that really matters to him they are a contender. Also Pat Riley is a good as it gets in recruiting players and getting them to sign. Boston is a great city, but it just can't compete with South Beach. People love LA, but if I had my choice it would be Miami.

Miami scares me even more than Utah, but this one sounds extremely close. I'm happy the Celts get him after Miami though.

Let's say we can't get Hayward and KO doesn't get any huge offers. Rather than give him a big deal, what about a sign and trade for Favors? It would seem like a great fit for both teams. We need rebounding and D, the Jazz need a floor spacing shooter.
Before his injury filled year, Favors was one of the best young PFs in the game. Would seem like a perfect fit to replace Johnson. It's also a one year deal, so no long-term salary cap worries.
If no Hayward I really hope they do something like this rather than give Daniel G or Rudy Gay a huge contract.

What makes it a dumb report is "league sources think"... unless it's sources close to Hayward those are strictly opinion based not based on any inside info

@rjp There was a report a few weeks back that Miami is just as big of a threat as Boston to land Hayward, so this would seem consistent with that.
Gallinari is emerging as a potential backup plan for the Celts - I actually like the fit as a player, but I'm not sure how the money would match up considering who else the Celtics need to sign soon.

They gave 3 reasons that anyone could come up with as reasons he'd want to be there. Not to mention the report came out while he was meeting with them. My point is it's all reasonable stuff i just don't think it's anything new

I'd like Hayward but I'm fine with the team sitting back and making the picks.
I do agree tho that I hope they don't make any dumb long term big signings.

I don't mind the player. The thought of giving him a 4 year 80-100 million dollar deal scares me. He can't stay healthy and 95% of his value comes from his offense. Sure his shooting, scoring and ability to get the line would certainly help us. Last 4 years the most games he played was 63 and he missed a full season 3 years ago.

I haven't been this excited about a rookie since Al Jefferson and Paul Pierce.

It's the type of deal I wouldn't mind giving some players if no Hayward. Overpay for one year, but no long-term deal on books. The way teams are wasting money again this year. By next year not many teams will have cap space.

By next year not many teams will have cap space. Don't disagree. I'd rather have the flexibility to go after a max player next year than a Gallinari type now.

I was hoping the Celts could pull something like that off with Blake Griffin, but Doc's gonna Doc.
I wouldn't be surprised if Philly makes a similar signing for a Tony Allen. But they're a trash bag organization, so it wouldn't surprise me if they mess it up this offseason.

You're not going to have space unless you walk away or trade Thomas, Bradley and Smart.
