You're not going to have space unless you walk away or trade Thomas, Bradley and Smart. You could likely keep a hold on one of them (probably IT), depending on whether we get the Lakers pick. At worst, you might have to move Crowder to get there.

I heard Pat Riley speak at a conference a couple years and Arod earlier this year. Arod came across as well spoken, prepared and real, whereas Riley essentially told a bunch of stories and constantly contradicted himself a number of times and it was painful listening to him when he finally admitted at the end of his talk that some of the stories he told about the Heat championship did not happen. You kinda felt sorry for Riley and were left wondering if he was really that poorly prepared or he was experiencing some memory loss. Pretty bad when Arod comes across as more genuine than someone.

Anyone know anything about the german guy they just signed? He's supposed to be pretty athletic and a good shooter but I wouldn't expect much more than a 10-12 guy in the rotation.

Arod is very intelligent and well spoken so I can't say I'm all that surprised. All he had to do was stop being a jackass and it seems post playing career he's done that... Riley is really good at recruiting players for some reason I don't know what.

Anyone know anything about the german guy they just signed? Good athlete around the rim, could eventually stretch his range out to the perimeter, and seems to enjoy mixing it up inside. He's a bit undersized for a center, but he definitely seems like he's worth the flier.

So he is a 4 maybe 5 guy who can shoot and rebound? Wonder if he can play D?

Does that add 5 guys to the 15 on the roster? 2 draft picks, zizic, yabu, and the german guy? Who goes and who stays? I am sorry but patience with an old guy, but I have not seen anything on the cap situation yet, now that George is not coming nd Hayward seems more like a long shot. Also griffin chased the money. Does Danny trade guys and save money for next year?

Woj said on ESPN that Amir Johnson was almost signed and traded to Philly for Okafor... weird

Danny will have the last laugh when all is said and done IMO.
He made a very good (and the best) offer for a 1 year rental. Hey Indy, let us negotiate an extension and then we would give you the Laker's pick too. We are going to stomp Indiana next year, the year after that and as far as I can see into the future. Three draft picks on top of Crowder and his great contract plus perhaps Bradley...Hey good luck.

Johnson is a good get for Philly. He and Redick give them some vets to mentor the young 'uns.

Shoot this out to umass, tex and rip. How does what has happened so far affect the celtic's and the cap this coming year and going forward?

Woj said on ESPN that Amir Johnson was almost signed and traded to Philly for Okafor... weird I wanted Okafor in the Fultz deal, but his Salary would make getting a max guy harder. Has something changed? We haven't even meet with Hayward yet. That is very weird, the timing at least is.

Signing Zizic and Tatum has no impact since their holds are now contracts (unless they signed for something less than their hold, which is possible but highly unlikely).
Johnson signing, technically, droos the current cap number but that was going to happen anyway so no real impact in the plan.

They can sign for as little as 80% of slot or up to 120%. Almost all deals are 120% and that's what I would expect.

I don't get why some people in the media are acting like Ainge whiffed. He clearly tried to get a deal in place for George. He can't make Indiana trade George. And if Hayward signs elsewhere its not like he could have forced him to sign with us. This isn't baseball, he can't just outbid Miami and Utah.

Right, no one expected Indiana trade with Okc and so soon. The scenario to get but Hayward and George was very complicated and never a guarantee anyway.

According to the guys on ESPN the Celtic's had the last look on George and did not want to do anything.

What do you think about not getting butler? CBS sports gave Danny a D.

Probably Ainge wasn't willing to be more aggressive without some assurance that he could extend George and without Hayward in the fold that was problematic. Indiana's impatience could well have cost them a better deal.

The Celtics flat out didn't want Butler, and I don't blame them. He's a complete head case and not someone to bring into a great locker room.

All things being equal they would prefer to trade him to the Western confrence. That didn't mean they wouldn't trade him to Celtics. bleacherreport.com/articles/2719397-paul-george-rumors-celtics-reportedly-never-gave-offer-before
