When we're talking about Miami here, I think it's important to distinguish South Beach (which is awesome) from the rest of the city of Miami (which is a complete dump).
I'd still rather spend my winters in South Beach than Boston, but Miami isn't a very good city once you leave the beach.

Basketball has to be the only sport where weather matters so much to free agents. Its pretty silly but its a factor.

While I would prefer to spend my winters in South Beach, I would definitely not want to live there in the summer (too hot and humid). I guess summer is the off-season, so he could live wherever.

After that, I am sure it is a variety of factors (market-size/endorsement possibilities, winning, role on team, history of org, proximity to family/friends, weather/location, etc.) that go into the decision. How those factors rank would depend in the person. These are the same factors (minus the sport specific factors, of course) that I would expect almost any person (athlete or non-athlete) to consider when choosing a new job.

We got lost, took a wrong turn down a dead-end street and my wife thought we were going to die. At the same time almost all cities have there bad areas. Boston sure does. Drive 10 minutes outside downtown Boston and all the stores have bars on the windows. There isn't much of a difference. Rich people stay in the nice areas.

It's getting a lot harder to find bad neighborhoods in Boston. Obviously they exist but places like Mass ave, Savin Hill, JP, Southie, etc etc are all higher end now or trending that way. The transformation in the city the last 20+ years is pretty insane.
Nothing to do with competing with Miami but thought I would throw that in.

The main difference is that money in Basketball is equal. You can only get the max, so things like life style matter more. In Baseball, Football and Hockey you can get more money from different teams.

George Hill reportedly working on a 1 year deal with the Lakers... why? It's odd he can't get a multi year deal and why go play with Ball? And why mess up our pick?

Sure if it's legit... if they broke the Millisap News and hit this then they could make a name for themselves... of course it's just as possible they are gambling and hoping to be right to make a name for themselves

I have no idea why Hill would sign there. The Laker want a solid Vet to help Ball. Also they could flip him at deadline. The money is drying up. Most teams that have it are rebuilding, don't need Hill or just don't want to use there cap space.

There's nowhere to go for a multi-year, so going there would be about getting himself marketed for next offseason. And Ball is a rookie, so Hill would get plenty of PT as Ball develops.

Early impressions...Zizic nice free throw stroke.. got stuffed on a dunk attempt. He does not look like a leaper but rather a hard worker. Tatum is quicker than Pierce and looks solid. Fultz is very impressive as is center Bolden from Australia.

Just looked at the box score - Tatum looks like he showed the complete game he exhibited later in the season at Duke once he got healthy. And Brown filled it up.

Thought Tatum played well, I do see some similarities to Pierce's game. Jaylen was also great and probably shouldn't be play in the SL. Zizic looked slow and out of shape, didn't really get off the ground but at least early showed a lot of fight for rebounds (something the team lacks) and has some nice moves around the basket. Really wish we got to see Yabusele.

Really fun to see Tatum get the game-winner and Brown block Fultz to seal it. Brown's stat line is pretty ridiculous 29 & 13 on 16 FGA in 30 minutes. He looked awkward/out of control at times with the offense running through him (7 TO), but that won't be his C's role for a while anyway. Zizic looked more robotic than I expected and Nader was solid.

Yeah...it's way early but Zizic looks like a get yourself dirty banger who can run the floor straight ahead. Rebounds will be hustle scuffles. As you note, he does not look fluid. I don't envision him as a rim protector. He is young of course but I don't see him as having frontline athleticism. Tatum is going to be a very solid player.
Fultz really impressed me. For a 6'4 guy he has long arms and moves with an uncanny ease..separating from defenders at will.
