Teams never cease to amaze me with their stupidity. The Knicks signed Hardaway to a ridiculous offer sheet. They are trying to get younger and tear this thing down to rebuild it with kids and they add an albatross of a contract for a mediocre player for the next 4 years. It's good for the Celtics in that it should make them a little better so we can feel good about them being better than the Lakers or the Nets. On the flip side it continues the destruction of the Hawks who might be vying for worst record this year.
Leaders in the Club house for worst records:
Nets Lakers Hawks Suns Magic
Of course we will see today that the Nets sign Green to an offer sheet and pick up Dedmon and whomever else.

He opted to stay with the organization last year, instead of going somewhere guaranteed. I really hope he makes the team.

Kid is pretty smooth and has nice touch on all sorts of shots around the basket. I think his range has improved and will have to continue to but looks like it should. He's long and good defensively. Down the road he could be a legit player.

Talk is starting to surface that Hayward may take a little less if Celtics can't find a quality trade.

...for Marcus Morris 6'9" 32 minutes/game 14 pts, 4.6 rebounds, .3 blocks, 43% from the field 35% from 3..hmmmm. Not sure how this guy helps or makes the team.

Could be interesting to see what this means for KCP (RFA). He's always been on Brooklyn's radar (they can't do anything until WAS matches the offer sheet).

If that's all they got for Bradley and it allows Brooklyn to sign KCP (who I actually don't like much as a player); this is a big loss for the Cs

So we had to give up a second rd pick too? I hope Morris is better than I think

If nothing else, the C's no longer have to worry about Marcus suiting up for the Bullets if Markeif gets hurt

I'm sorry to see Bradley go but something had to happen. And I don't think we were going to get a great hall for any of the three. Not with teams knowing Celts needed to make a move. Bradley has a year left on his deal and was most likely never going to be re-signed by the Celtics. Crowder and Smart are both under team control for multiple years. The Jazz wanted Crowder for nothing aparently. And it doesn't make sense to punt on Smart for subpar return. Morris at least gives the celtics an affordable Big that they need. The second round pick isn't a huge deal since we have more draft picks than we have room for if we keep everyone.
Any chance we might see Smart handle the ball sometimes with Thomas as the shooting guard? I could see Brown getting a lot of time st SG as well.

Pluses: he's on a good contract, can fill Amir Johnson's minutes at the 4/big spot with a little more shooting, he's very durable (77+ games every year since he was a rookie), and the rivalry with the Wizards should get more interesting.
Minuses: doesn't rebound exceptionally well, 25% of his shots were from 16ft-3pt last year (thought he shot them at a high percentage), efficiency stats on him aren't particularly great, and he is frankly not as good of a player as Bradley (admittedly I don't know much about Morris's defense).
To me, it's a value/roster construction move. They had to get the money for Hayward and open time at the wing, they couldn't get a ton back for a player that was about to get paid, and they need size/cheap rotational players to keep the team intact next summer. Sad to see a player like Bradley go in this kind of move, but its a fair trade in my eyes.

Marcus Morris is a good player who might be the leading candidate to start at the 4 for them to start the season. He's a good and versatile defender, stretches the floor and is young and on a good contract.
With that said, he's not as good as Bradley, and I'm a little disappointed they couldn't do better.

The bottom line is that with Isaiah, Smart, and Bradley all with only one year more of control...it was better to get a cheap "BIG" who is controllable for a couple of years who can give them a solid 10 to 15 minutes per night...rather than get nothing. Their line-up will get bigger at the 2nd guard at times depending on the matchup. Hayward can actually defense some 2's, and Brown will also take up some of the slack.
Hate to see Bradley go as his perimeter defense was outstanding. But with Isiah on the floor, Bradley often was placed in a post-up situation himself. Our guards were too often in this situation. Bradley was going to get BIG money after next season. IMO if you were committed to Isiah going forward, Bradley was the one to go.

Himmelsbach reporting that it was always the plan to have Yabusele on the roster so we should see that signing come soon. The 3 2nd rounders and Nader could as well (Allen and Bird on the new 2-way deals??)
Would still think another big could be added (Dedmon, Reed, etc?)
Then they'll probably look to see what a Smart extension might look like prior to the deadline (or let him go to restricted free agency next year).

I kinda feel the same, but it's worth looking at it this way: is two years of Morris at about $5.2 mil/year worth more than one year of Bradley at around $8 mil? At the very least, it's very close. And that's without factoring in that Morris' contract allows the Celts to sign another veteran for about $4 mil. All in all, I like this better than giving away Crowder to the Jazz just because.

So does this mean they can keep Yabu and Rozier? Yup - expect both guys to be on the team. I would think Mickey and Jackson are getting waived soon, though.

It's interesting how Jackson sucked the big one in the first summer league game and then sat out the next two...

Check that. C's can't sign both Semi and Nader (without getting rid of Jackson or another trade where we gain space).

Not for nothing but Morris is coming from playing next to one of the NBAs best rebounders to this team, so he might be good for at least an extra rebound per game.
What perplexes me our tge character issues, Morris is due in court (today I believe) for felony charges. Apparently he assaulted a guy pretty bad with four other guys.
Now in his defense the guy was sending inappropriate messages to his mother but if character truly is a concern with this guy I would have rather traded for Cousins months ago.

As weird as this will sound there is a difference between poor locker room character and being a bit of a thug
